"Would we still be best friends if I was a worm?" I ask Ronny, who stops mid-bite of his sandwich to give me a weird look.

"Would we" I ask again, since he isn't responding. "No."

Excuse me?

"Really?" I say, feigning a sad expression and looking down at the table. I even manage to make my eyes a little watery. "Fuck—never mind sure." Ronny mutters. I flip my sad face into a smile, "Awww me too!"

Cue a glare.

Ronny and I just got ice cream from a small shop in the park, and now we are both at a picnic table eating it. I got Mint Chocolate Chip, and he got vanilla because he is basic.

I finish mine way before him and get up to throw away the cup, and when I come back Ronny looks a little...irritated?

"What happened?" I ask, sitting down beside him.

Nada.

"Ronald what?" I say pretend angry, since he is totally in a mood out of nowhere. "You got a text." Is all he says. I frown at this and flip my phone towards me to see a text from Blake.

Blake: Hey, you wanna come over tomorrow like we talked about?

Is this why Ronny is upset?

I didn't even talk about going over to his house, I just said it's cool he has his own house. "Are you jealous?" I straight up ask him.

"No." He responds a little fast.

He totally is.

"Aaron," I say his full name to act serious, I also put my hand on his, "You are my bestie, don't worry." I say, which he rolls his eyes at.

Are we not besties?

"Stop being pouty, and get up so we can swim." I stand up after seeing his cup is empty. He gives me a confused look, "I want to swim in your pool." I tell him. He makes a face at this, still seeming upset I was texting someone else.

"Ronald, Blake is Alyssa's brothers friend who I have spoken to twice." I tell him, and he seems to relax a little bit.

Drama queen.

Ronny has a sick pool in his back yard that has an infinity edge looking over hills and its--ugh just gorgeous. I've been dying to swim in it, and we have no plans tonight so I am making the executive decision to do so. "Now can we swim?" I ask.

"If it's alright." I add quickly, realizing I can't just demand to come over to his house. "Actually never mind we don't have to--

"Come on." He just cuts me off, walking towards the parking lot.

I drove us today, so I climb into my car and buckle up, watching Ronny until he does as well. He always rolls his eyes when I don't drive until he buckles, it's like he wants to die in a car crash.

I carefully back out of a parking spot, looking over my shoulder because I have zero trust in my mirrors. "You have a camera." Ronny points out to me as I back out at exactly 3 miles an hour.

"Hush." I silence him, continuing to crank my head over my shoulder instead of looking at the mirrors or cameras. "I got an 86 on my drivers test I know what I'm doing." I say, going into drive and zooming off out of the parking lot.

"I got a 100." he says.

"Nobody likes a show off." I retort. "Speaking of 100s, I got one on the quiz yesterday. And, the class average was a 85. I'm just built different." I brag.
