Friday evening found the Addams family Rolls Royce rolling up to the front of a giant black mansion. Classical music could be heard coming from within it, a few people coming up to the front door dressed in fine dresses and suits all in black.

The Addams family got out, dressed in their own finery while Lurch rolled the car around back to park it. Gomez was dressed in a dapper black suit with skulls patterned on it, holding a cane in one hand and holding out his arm in offer. Morticia held onto that hand, wearing a black slim fitting dress that was a different shade of black than usual. Her long hair was gathered into a ponytail behind her.

Pugsley looked adorable in his sweater, bow tie and black pants combo, Thing on his shoulder wearing a fresh coat of black nail polish and a little bow tie around his middle finger.

Wednesday had opted for a dress for this event, with lacy sleeves and a low front that had Enid's eyes straying down. She had to visibly remind herself to not look. Enid's own outfit was a black sleeveless sundress with white polka dots. Enid had opted to drop her colors for this evening for good reason.

That reason being that the Addams were having a family ball along with friends and relatives.

"Not that you don't look lovely in colors, Enid, but if you brush up against any of the people there you'll cause an allergic chain reaction," Wednesday had said and that had horrified Enid enough to change her choice of outfit and even pin up her hair in case her hair dye caused any side effects.

Enid would be surrounded by the entire legacy of the Addamses and she was nervous.

"Do you think they'll approve of me?" she whispered to Wednesday anxiously as the front doors opened by themselves and spat them out into a huge entrance hall decorated with stuffed heads and skeletons, and blood dripping down the walls. Several ghosts did back flips as they flew by in a chilly breeze. Enid pointedly looked away and pretended they were just special effects.

"I see no reason for them not to," Wednesday said. "Addams are an accepting sort, no matter the oddity."

It seemed almost impossible for that to be true for Enid. She had grown up surrounded by the small minded ideology of werewolf culture and packs.

"How do I introduce myself?"

"Not as my girlfriend," Wednesday said, shooting Enid an apologetic blink. "For the purposes of not rousing the Being's suspicions yet. I want to enjoy the trip with you. We can worry about declaring your worth to me later, and planning for the ritual after this trip."

"Right," Enid said with a short nod of her head. While she would love for the relatives to know her relationship status with Wednesday there would be time later. If and when Enid passed the challenges.

Immediately the Addams matriarch and patriarch began greeting cousins and aunts and uncles and nephews and nieces, Enid being dragged with them. Pugsley made a beeline for the buffet table while Thing went to shake some hands.

Gomez and Morticia introduced Enid to so many people that faces and names all blurred together and it felt overwhelming. Everyone was kind, smiling at her and shaking her hand. When the rounds had finished and the married couple went to involve themselves in a conversation, Enid found Wednesday standing by a pillar, coolly observing everything.

"Are you not going to say hi to family?" Enid asked, watching Wednesday's back stiffen the way a cat's did when they sensed danger nearby.

Her black eyes cut through the crowd. "He's here," she hissed out. Enid didn't have a chance to ask before she got her answer.

"Mon trou noir!" a loud voice cut in through the din. Parting the crowd like the sea, stood a man on the other side. He looked young, around Wednesday's age, and his skin was pale like hers. His hair was dark as the abyss and his eyes glimmered like coals.
