Enid was sinking, cold water closing over her, swallowing her down.

The light of the above world began to dim the deeper she sunk, body frozen in terror and unable to move, to kick her up to safety.

A dark shape appeared from above, swimming down towards her. Was someone coming for her? They swam furiously but they wouldn't reach her in time. Her air was running out and her chest burned with lack of breathing. The swimmer's hand reached out to her.

A memory flashed inside Enid's mind. Of her underwater like this, in deep dark depths, listening to a soft musical tune. Except she was smiling, happy, safe.

Held in someone's arms.

Whose arms had they been?

The musical melody played as Wednesday's arms wrapped around Enid's body, her feet kicking furiously as they made for the surface. But Enid was extra weight and Wednesday began to struggle to bring them up.

Enid's vision began to spot. She couldn't breathe....she wasn't going to make it...

Hands pumped Enid's chest hard and painfully. She opened her mouth to complain, to ask them to let her sleep, when water gurgled out. Her eyes slammed open and she turned on the side to cough water up.

"Enid, you're alright," Wednesday said in relief. She was dripping wet, eyes open wide with fear.

"I'm so sorry," Andrew fretted, pacing by the dock. They had made it to shore. "I knocked into Enid because of the squid-" he ran a hand through his perfectly coiffed hair. He was dry, not an inch of him wet. Wednesday ignored him.

Enid sat up, her throat burning. She was shivering cold now, chilled to her bones. Her clothes were wet and strands of her hair clung to her.

"Let's get you into the car," Wednesday said, gently helping Enid to her feet. "We have a blanket there."

Enid nodded her head, adrenaline coursing through her veins. She couldn't speak, she was exhausted by everything that had happened. Enid leaned against Wednesday, bringing her to the car. She cranked the heat up and sat Enid in the front seat before handing her a fluffy blanket. She tucked Enid in.

"Are you alright?" Wednesday asked, voice gentle. The water had dried on her face, but there were tracks under her eyes as if she'd been crying.

Enid slowly nodded her head.

"I.....I didn't wish that to happen to you," Wednesday said. "If I had known..."

"It was an accident," Enid croaked out, her cold hand seeking out Wednesday's own to assure her it was alright now. Wednesday's hand held on tight. It looked like she had more to say but then Andrew was there, standing behind her.

"Wednesday, you're cold too. Let me take care of you." He guided her away to the back, finding another blanket for her and sitting her up in the driver's seat, turning the air vents to blow hot air on her too.

The exhaustion of the experience had Enid's eyes drooping shut. Under the warmth of the blanket and heater she fell asleep. She woke in the back seat, blanket tucked over her just as the car was pulling into a stop in front of the Addams mansion. Andrew carried a sleeping Wednesday in his arms up to the front door. Lurch opened it up for them. Enid followed after them.

"What happened?" Morticia asked, eyes widening in horror at the sorry state of Enid and Wednesday.

"We fell into the lake," Enid said.

"My poor dears," Morticia sighed, pressing a kiss to Wednesday's forehead as she continued to sleep in Andrew's arms. "Take her upstairs and take care of her," she said and he nodded his head, carefully taking her up. Morticia turned to Enid. "You look like you could use a hot bath and some hot chocolate."
