chapter eight

always help your friends

it was finally friday, daehyun was happily packing for a few hours at uncle minho's, and seulgi was adding the finishing touches to her outfit, hoping she didn't appear too overdressed or underdressed.

she wore a stylish pair of blue jeans, paired with a red top, the sleeves fell just below her elbow. the neckline was a little deep, but not too deep to expose too much of anything, but she felt very pretty in this outfit. she paired it with a simple pair of sandals. she curled her hair, and applied light makeup, mainly just trying to make it look like she sleeps properly.

though hyunjin had seen her without makeup, she still wanted to look decent for their first date. and she was definitely excited. minho would be over any minute to pick up daehyun, just as she decided on a silver dainty necklace, she heard a knock at the door.

she quickly ran out of her bathroom, running across the living room to pull open the door. minho smiles at her, instantly entering as he takes in her outfit.

"so you are going on a date." he teases at how seulgi didn't give him an exact reason as to why he needed to watch daehyun tonight, but of course, he didn't mind either way. he was happy to see seulgi putting herself back out there.

"fine. i'm going on a date." she admits, patting down her shirt. "do i look okay?" she asks.

"beautiful as always." he smiles, pulling her into a hug. "who's the guy?" he asks.

"his name is hyunjin, you don't know him."

"how long have you known him?"

"a few weeks."

"has he met daehyun?" minho was protective over seulgi in a brotherly way, and she was used to his excessive questions when it came to her potential love interests.

"yes, daehyun really likes him."

"well that's good, when am i gonna meet him?" he questions, cocking an eyebrow.

"tonight if you don't hurry up and leave." she laughs, checking the time on her phone, noting hyunjin was probably on his way.

"really? maybe i'll stay a little longer then." he laughs. seulgi rolls her eyes.

"uncle minho?" daehyun walks into the living room, dragging his bag behind him.

"daehyunnie!" minho exclaims, squatting down to his height, opening his arms. daehyun giggles, running into his arms and hugging him.

"daehyun," seulgi calls, bending down as well to talk to her son. "be good to uncle minho, i'll be back to pick you up before bedtime." she tells him, placing a quick kiss on his forehead as she pulls him into a hug.

"okay, mom!" he smiles, giggling as he turns back around towards minho. minho grabs daehyun's backpack, slinging it around his shoulder as he stands up.

"i love you!"

"i love you too, mom."

"see you in a few hours. good luck." he pats her shoulder.

"drive safe!" she tells him, watching as he walks out of the door, hand in hand with daehyun.

"always!" he calls back before letting the door shut behind him. she smiles to herself, plopping on the couch, checking her phone as she waits for hyunjin. it only takes a few minutes before she hears yet another knock on her door. she wondered if hyunjin and minho had crossed paths at all, as she makes her way to answer the door.
