always show sympathy for others

seulgi had dropped daehyun off at school this morning, thankful that he went without a fight. she had hoped these classmates would be better than the other ones he's had in the past. and as the time slowly approached lunch, she was feeling a little nervous for hyunjin to come over. hoping that she hadn't made the wrong decision to hear him out.

but hyunjin, already on his way, was determined to make sure she understands. he wasn't ready to let her go, and he hated that he allowed seungmin to get in his head. though seungmin had valid points, he should have been mature and talked through his concerns with seulgi rather than ignoring her. he felt very lucky that she decided to give him a second chance, he already knew she was the kind of girl to not waste time with men. so he would not blow it this time, he was sure of it.

thankfully, soon enough he was parking his car in her driveway. her house was smaller than his, a cozy one-story brick house, but it still looked fairly nice. he took a few deep breaths before getting out of his car, locking the door as he walked up the driveway to the front door. he lifts a fist to knock on the door, backing away a few steps once he did. it didn't take long for seulgi to open the door, offering him a small smile and stepping to the side to allow him in.

"do you want anything to drink?" she asks as he enters, taking off his shoes. he instantly noted how the house smelled like her, and he loved the way she smelled. like cinnamon and roses.

"no thanks. how are you?" he questions, taking the moment to scan over her features. he couldn't help but noticed she looked a little bit more tired today. he assumed it was because of daehyun going back to school. he hoped that he hadn't been giving her a hard time.

"i'm good..." she answers awkwardly. "you?" she questions as she motions for him to take a seat on the couch. he only does so once she sits down on it herself, placing himself next to her, but not too close.

"i've just been thinking a lot." he admits. "and firstly, i want to apologize." he starts.

"go on." she nods, happy that he was okay with taking accountability.

"it was immature of me to leave you in the dark, i should have talked to you about the things i was feeling. so i'm sorry, i'll do better in the future when it comes to things like this if you give me another chance." he smiles sheepishly, hoping his apology would be sufficient, at least enough for her to hear him out.

"what kind of feelings were you having?" she asks, feeling as if she needed a lot more context before she even thought about forgiving him.

"well... i've never been with a woman who has a child..." he says awkwardly, hoping it didn't come off as rude. she nods in understanding.

"not many people our age have." she agrees.

"right, and, i guess i just started overthinking. mainly wondering if i was ready to be with someone with a child, because it comes with extra commitments, you know?" he tries his best to explain.

"i wouldn't expect you to be a father to daehyun for a long while. but i definitely understand what you mean." she nods.

"and being completely honest, i'm still not entirely sure. but i do know that i like you, a lot. and i like daehyun as well." he says truthfully, not wanting to give her any false hope that he was ready to fully commit, because he wasn't exactly sure yet. but she was okay with that, this is what she expected, and she could work with it.
