chapter thirteen

always respect your elders

"what if he doesn't like me?" hyunjin asks worriedly. hyunjin had been spending a lot of time at seulgi's house, and he was there currently, watching seulgi get ready for their second date. minho was on the way to pick up daehyun, and he was nervous to meet the older.

"if i like you, minho will like you." she laughs, waving off hyunjin's dramatic behavior.

"this feels like i'm meeting your dad." he says with a pout, causing seulgi to shake her head in laughter.

"he's the closest thing to it, i guess." she giggles.

"exactly!" hyunjin pouts again.

"he's a sweetheart, you'll be fine." she reassures him, finishing up the last curl on her hair.

"you're beautiful." he suddenly compliments.

"stop doing that."

"doing what? saying the truth?" he teases. she rolls her eyes playfully. a knock on the door interrupting their teasing.

"do you wanna get that?" she jokes, laughing as hyunjin's eyes instantly widen at her request. "i'm just joking, relax." he says, pushing him gently to the side as she makes her way to open the door.

"hey!" minho says happily, instantly pulling her into a hug. "second date huh?" he whispers in her ear, making her chuckle.

"yes, and i want you to meet him." she replies, pulling away from the hug.

"really?" he questions, seulgi had never wanted him to meet any of the guys she's been on a date with, so this automatically felt more serious, not to mention that she's actually going on a second date with him as well. his eyes float behind her, noticing a tall man walking in from seulgi's bedroom. he had long black hair and a peircing gaze. minho was surprised, this wasn't her normal type, recalling how she seemed to go for people who resembled chan in some way. he had hope that maybe this meant she was finally moving on.

"minho, this is hyunjin. hyunjin, this is minho." seulgi introduces the two, stepping to the side so that they could properly see each other. hyunjin instantly bows at the older boy.

"it's nice to meet you, i've heard a lot about you." hyunjin says politely, feeling a little intimidated by the older boy's gaze.

"i've heard about you as well, it's good to meet you." minho replies politely despite his cold gaze. "seulgi, do you mind if i have a minute with him?" he turns back around towards her.

"not at all." she says with a smile, ignoring hyunjin's panicked look. "i'll just go check on daehyun." she says, excusing herself as she walks into his room. minho turns back around to hyunjin with a wide smile.

"you seem to make her happy." he says calmly. hyunjin half expected him to yell at him or lecture him.

"i hope so. she makes me happy."

"and daehyun?"

"i really like him. he's a good kid."

"he is. she worked really hard to raise him that way." he states matter-of-factly.

"i know. she's very strong. especially after what she went through with chan. i'm sorry about that by the way, i gathered that you were close with him too. i wish i would have got to meet him." hyunjin tells him, hoping he didn't cross a line or anything.
