there is an appropriate timing for everything
roughly nine months later...
"we're back!" jisung's singing voice echos through seulgi's house.
"hey boys, how did it go?" seulgi questions, pulling daehyun into a quick hug.
"daehyun is an excellent swimmer." minho compliments. "way better than me." he adds.
"minho, you can't swim. of course he's better than you." jisung teases. minho rolls his eyes, leaning over to kiss jisung on the cheek.
"hey, go shower. dinner will be ready soon." seulgi tells daehyun, who nods and heads off into his room.
"shouldn't you be like, preparing to go to the hospital? i'm sure he's gonna come any day now." minho says, poking seulgi's belly.
"that's what i've been telling her." hyunjin says, walking in with a full duffel bag of things they could need for the hospital.
"and i've been telling you it's not time yet. i knew when daehyun was coming, ask minho." she motions toward the boy.
"no, you were in the hospital a week before you gave birth to him, because you were feeling so sick." minho clarifies.
"whatever, i'm f-" she stops talking, a sharp pain taking her breath away.
"seulgi?" hyunjin calls, practically throwing the duffel bag in minho's arms as he runs over to her.
"i'll go get daehyun." jisung says, running into the boys room to get him out of the house before anything happens.
"okay, maybe i'm not fine." she laughs slightly, holding onto hyunjin's shoulder as the pain intensifies.
"i'll go get the car started." minho announces, taking the duffel bag with him.
"alright, let's go." hyunjin hooks his arm around her waist, letting her throw her arm around his shoulders as he secured her against him. minho was already at the door, ready to help hyunjin get her in the car. the three carefully heading towards the car, minho pulling open the door to the backseat. hyunjin climbs in first, grabbing her from minho's arms as they comfortably lay her down. hyunjin placing her head on his lap. once she was in, minho shuts the door, climbing into the drivers seat.
"w-wait!" seulgi shouts.
"baby, i don't think we can-"
"can't go without a seatbelt..." she breathes, trying to push through the pain.
"seulgi, come on, we don't have time-"
"minho, if you start driving this car i will not hesitate to jump out." she says sternly. minho looks at hyunjin in the rear view mirror, the two of them sighing. minho climbs out of his seat, going back to the backseat, helping hyunjin sit her up. once she was sat up, minho grabs the seatbelt, handing it to hyunjin so that he could secure it. minho quickly hopping to the drivers seat once they were done. the two boys pulling on their own seatbelts. "thank you." she breathes.
and finally, minho starts the drive to the hospital, seulgi's pain getting worse with every passing minute. it had been so long since she was in labor, she practically forgot how intense and painful it was. the intense pain reminding her of chan, and how she was forced to give birth to his baby without him by her side. she began to cry, not because of the pain, but because of her thoughts.
