{Polar Opposites}

Sonic and Shadow aren't very keen when it comes to seeing eye to eye. They both like different things and can't really get along no matter the circumstances. One sudden change of events changed everything for them . . . Instead of skipping to that, let me show you how it started.

Shadow's P.O.V
I've worked for the G.U.N for almost three years now, it's been very annoying trying to find jobs that aren't taken by other people trying to make money. I was sitting in my living room, looking over any jobs that I can find since rent is coming up and while looking, something caught my attention on the TV. "Another villain defeated by our one and only blue blur superhero: Sonic The Hedgehog! We are live on the scene asking him questions about what he plans on doing next. So tell me Mr. Hedgehog..." Another interview, not a shocker considering he always does one through every battle he's faced. As I looked at the faker, I noticed something very off about him like he felt a bit uncomfortable from questions that were asked as you could tell by his body language; shaky hands and all, like he didn't want to be there. The interview didn't last long as he quickly left but I watched I got a phone call from Rouge, I debated on answering but I did anyways so then she doesn't blow up my phone later. "This better be important, I'm busy looking at jobs for us to do" I said as I set the papers aside and went out to the balcony to get some fresh air. "Darling of course it's important, we are scheduled for a celebration dinner for Sonic, remember? I hope you didn't forget" Rouge said. When all that was mobius I wanted to forget since I despise going out. As Rouge and I were talking, I noticed a familiar trace running around. It was obviously Sonic since he normally runs around after hours. Him and I are very different. He likes the spotlight while I don't. He does morning jobs while I do night ones... He likes to be seen, and I respectfully do not altogether we don't really see eye to eye except when we have to work together which isn't by choice at all. "So, the dinner is at 8pm and don't even think about not coming because you don't have a choice in the matter since I already booked us on a job. See you then Shad" she hung up as I groaned softly, I don't have a choice in the matter now since Rouge finds affordable jobs for the both of us. I picked up the job papers and put them in a drawer, as I did my cat jumped onto the drawer... Yes I have a cat, it helps me with my anger, I picked her up and went back to the couch to continue to watch TV since I couldn't really go to sleep at this time since I have that dinner to go to.

Sonic's P.O.V
I had just finished beating another one of Egghead's robotnics, but press this time was really hard to get away from as my nerves were all over the place. I entered the house and took a deep breath, as soon as I did that.. It started happening; my hands were rapidly shaking and my breathing picked up at a high speed... Another one of my anxiety attacks. I quickly went in the bathroom and rummaged through the medicine cabinet looking for my pills, taking them after I did and took a couple breaths while sitting on the toilet. These attacks happen quite often but I try to keep it together so everyone doesn't have to worry a lot about me cause at the end of the day, I don't want anyone to know about these sudden attacks... Ever. After I got myself together, I stood up and went to the living room and sat on the couch, turning on the tv and as soon as I did my interview comes up. "Shit... I showed signs of it on television again.." I said to myself as I rubbed my head in disappointment, my phone rang after that and I picked it up to see who was calling me, oh it was Rouge I answered and all I heard was things moving and her talking. "Hey Blue, just want to remind you about the dinner for your big victory, No big party. I know you don't like that, it's only gonna be a small one" Rouge said while I sighed in relief. After calming myself down, I went to my room while talking to Rouge about the small get-together tonight. As I thought about it I felt uneasy. . . What If random people see me out in the open? What if the news reporters or paparazzi find out where we're eating?! I spaced out while Rouge talked to me, I told her I had to go but I'd still be at the dinner and then hung up.

I didnt know if i should go but my friends want to celebrate another victory like they do every year; "If im careful i can go but id have to have a disguise for when Im running out there" I said to myself than got up and looked through the closet for something I can wear, I ended up picking out a hat and mask and packed a small bag which had my phone, my pills and my keys. I set them to the side and decided to clean up a bit, and by a bit i mean a little bit which was mainly my room only because I couldnt find some of my things I wanted to bring, I sat on my bed and leaned against the headboard tiredly while waiting for time to pass by, I would normally run to get my mind off of everything but because of today's anxiety I didnt feel like going this time. Time passed as it was 5 minutes till the dinner, I grabbed my things and put on the small disguise but also brung my pills just in case something happens and I have to walk away from everyone else as well. Before opening the front door I looked around my surroundings to check if there's any photographers and quickly ran to the restaurant as soon as the coast was clear, running was my way of escape but at the same time. . It always brung me back to the same problem im dealing with which is my anxiety. While running i heard people shout my name but didnt acknowledge them at that moment since I had somewhere to be, after a few minutes, I made it to the restaurant and i think I was the 5th person to arrive since Tails, Amy, Knuckles and Rouge were already there. I opened the door as it gave some attention; "Sonic! You made it! Come, we're just waiting on a few more but everything is almost done" Amy shouted as I smiled while walking over to them, not long later others started showing up, Silver, Cream, Blaze, and more but it felt like someone was missing. . Right Shadow, I went over to Rouge and pulled her to the side gently; "Hey Rouge, is Shadow coming?" i asked while looking at her, she smiled and rubbed my head like I was a child; "Don't worry blue, he will come. . He sort of doesn't have a choice" Rouge giggled a bit as I tilted my head confused but went back to sit with the others.

Shadow's P.O.V.
I walked into the restaurant and saw that the others were there, Rouge came over to me and put her arm around my neck; "Took you long enough edgy" She said as I rolled my eyes while moving her arm; "I only came because you got us a job that pays good, I wont be in here for long" I said as I walked over to the others with Rouge, Sonic caught my gaze for a sec before I sat down and since everyone was there we all started to eat. The atmosphere was calm and everyone was having a fun time since its been a minute since we had all reconnected considering that we all have tough jobs. . . "Alright, Alright settle down everybody! Let's take a minute to make a toast to the blue blur that saves the city without any question from the retched egghead, cheers to Sonic!" everyone cheered as the glasses clinked with others, the rest of the night as everyone else was having fun, I was sitting in one of the booths until we heard screaming coming from outside the restaurant. Everyone looked over and saw a fan of Sonic's having their camera out taking pictures, following that a lot of paparazzi started flooding the entrance and everyone started to divide and conquer, I looked around and couldn't find Sonic which meant he already ran out through the back or something. "Shadow! Find Sonic before they do, we'll deal with these annoying people" I nodded and started to look in the restaurant for him, it was pretty big so he could be anywhere, i groaned until I heard some movement on my right which was the balcony area of the restaurant that was open I walked over and saw Sonic. . Something felt off; "Found you, god those fans of yours need to-" before i could finish. . . Sonic turned to me a bit and I noticed that he was crying, breathing heavily and clenching his chest to the point that he felt like he couldn't breathe. . .

He was having an Anxiety Attack
