A/N: I am well aware that it has been a year.. But um yeah, here it is. The goal is to finish this one day, however long it takes.
"GET AWAY FROM THAT TOASTER RIGHT THIS SECOND-" The shrill scream of the silver tongued man rang across the kitchen, effectively stopping everybody in their tracks.
Confused and my ears hurting, I turned around to face Jin who was now so red in the face he looked seconds from exploding. "What did I do now?" I asked, not meaning to sound as innocent as I did.
Fuming, his eyes widened even further, the dangerous glitter in them sharpening into intent of murder as he stared at me incredulously. "What did you do?" He sounded almost demonic, "Do you have any idea what's in your hands right now?"
I glanced down at the subject in question, "A butter knife?"
"Namjoon-ah..." I glanced at Hobi who stood timidly behind Seokjin, looking at me with an expression that almost looked like pity.
What is wrong with them?
"I can't-" Jin looked like he was struggling to breathe, which left me even more befuddled. "Someone please tell me how this twenty six year old, five foot nine child has an IQ of 148 but can't figure out how electricity works?!"
How dare he... "Electricity? Of course I know how electricity works. You're being more of a bitch than usual, hyung."
"Considering I am raising the five of you, can you blame me?"
I rolled my eyes behind him, yet reluctantly put away the butter knife, "Please, we aren't children anymore. You don't need to treat us like we are."
Seokjin gave me one last icy sharp look before going back to setting the plates on his precious mahogany table. I looked back at the knife and then the toaster. Like a lightbulb suddenly flashing to full brightness, it suddenly came to me.
"Oh."
Even though no one was watching me anymore, I felt the heat of embarrassment color my face. As much as I hated to admit it, Seokjin was right about me being dumb. That really was not one of my proudest moments.
Shrugging off the humiliation, I changed the subject. "So I take it Yoongi is not joining us tonight?"
Seokjin seemed to pause at my question. I watched his infamous wide shoulders stiffen before he turned around to face me, "No, it appears he is not feeling well. Next time, I guess." I couldn't help but search his dark eyes, that gave away nothing.
"Strange," I mused aloud, "He seemed perfectly fine when I saw him earlier today."
At this both Hobi and Jin showed surprise, "You saw him?"
"Well yeah?" I turned to Hoseok, "Remember I went to that exhibition. Turns out it was a ... friend of Yoongi's" The words seem to catch in my throat for some reason. "But yeah. It didn't look like anything was wrong with him. We even spoke for a bit."
"Who knows? Maybe he came down with something." The two of them went back to conversing with each other.
He lied.
I had asked Jin knowing that Yoongi was not going to be here, because he had already told me so earlier. But why was he giving both me and Jin different excuses? Why would he tell me he had other plans and instead tell Jin he was sick?
Stop it. Stop doubting him. This is your hyung who stood by you for years.
I shook my head to get rid of the paranoia. Before I could help myself, the memory of a sad and pale face slithered into the scattered thoughts.
