"Mommy?" Frankie asked sleepily.

"Yes, my love."

"Why are you sleeping with me and not mamma?" Maya had kind of expected this line of questioning. She wasn't sure if Frankie would take notice of it, or just go along, but she did know her daughter was very perceptive so it didn't surprise her.

"Well, baby. I like having sleepovers with you, and mamma needs her space right now."

"Because of her big belly?" She asked seriously and Maya had to hold back her laughter.

"Kind of, yeah." Maya hoped she could leave it at that.

"But this bed is so big." She stretched out like a starfish to prove her point. "There is room for mamma and the baby."

"Are you hungry?" Maya asked, praying to whomever that her daughter would forget about it.

"Can mamma make breakfast? I want french toast."

"I can make french toast too."

"Yes but, mamma makes them gooder."

"Yeah, you're right, mamma does make them better." Maya said and tickled her sides and Frankie laughed loudly. There was a knock at the door and Carina poked her head in.

"Make her stop, mamma!" Frankie said in between giggles.

Carina just laughed and made her way to the bed, laying down so Frankie was in the middle.

"See mommy! Mamma can still fit." Frankie exclaimed as she climbed over Carina's legs and sat down. Carina gave Maya a questioning look and then looked down at her belly.

"I never said mamma couldn't fit in the bed baby." Maya clarified for Carina's benefit. "Don't you like sleeping in here with me?"

"I like my room." She pouted.

"Okay, tomorrow night you can sleep in your own bed again." Maya would sleep on the couch, it wasn't a big deal.

Frankie waved her hand in victory and somehow managed to lose her balance, she had to catch herself on Carina's face.

"Ouch!" Carina said laughing. Frankie put both her hands over her mouth.

"Sorry, mamma. I didn't mean to!" She turned to look at Maya expectantly.

"It's okay, piccolina. I know it was an accident." She was smiling and she grabbed both of Frankie's hands and waved them around a little. Frankie was still looking at Maya though, a worried look on her face.

"What's wrong?" Maya asked.

"Are you not gonna kiss mamma better?"

"Why don't you kiss your mamma better?" Maya challenged and Frankie nodded and did what she was told. Carina laughed.

"Thank you, much better."

Frankie crossed her arms in front of her chest, making it obvious she was thinking about something.

"Mommy gives magical kisses." She said after a while.

"So do you, piccolina." Carina said. "I feel much better now."

It became obvious to both the women that Frankie was feeling the different energy between them, but that she didn't know how to word it. They had always been a very affectionate couple, Maya thought. Of course their daughter would question things when they hardly touched each other, or even slept in the same bed. She was truly stumped on how to handle it though. It seemed impossible to explain and it was impossible for them to go back to normal right now. Carina shot her a panicked look, but it soon turned into a smirk as she pointed to her cheek.
