"I think I'm in love with Roberto or something."

Olivia said this to me the Thursday after Halloween. It had been 5 days, and she had already seen Roberto twice.

We were out to lunch for sushi on her work break, and I looked at her from across the table.

"Really?" I asked her, "Isn't it a bit...soon?"

"I know it is." Olivia said, "But I swear, it was like love at first sight or something at the party. We looked at each other, and it was magnetic. I looked at him and got this feeling that he was going to mean something to me. God, I sound fucking ridiculous."

"You know what- I'm going to encourage you." I said, "If you feel that way, I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong."

"I didn't even feel this way about Kyle." Olivia said, referring to her ex-boyfriend that she dated for two years. They broke up a year ago. "I mean, I loved Kyle. But this feeling for Roberto is...intense."

"Go with it." I said, "That's all you can do."

After I dropped Olivia back off at her work, I sat in my car for a moment before I drove off.

I still have never told Vivienne that I love her. Even in my first year of college- when I still felt it so strongly, I never told her. And she never told me.

Would we ever?

I had come close to saying it so many times. Especially when drunk, or after Vivienne and I fucked in one of our dorm rooms.

Which was just about every time we saw each other.

When Vivienne's name appeared on my phone as we were driving back from the Halloween party, indicating I had a text from her, I felt my heart skip a beat.

I didn't know if I would ever see that name on my phone again.

And I was beyond glad that I did.

All throughout the week, we had been texting. One thing that I was learning was that Vivienne was really not a fan of law school. And she was stressed out.

So I suggested we have a girls night.

A night to truly be able to catch up.

That next Saturday, Vivienne and I planned to get together. We planned to get sushi at a place near Vivienne's, and then go back to her house. And whatever happened...happened.

I felt nervous- yet at ease- all at the same time. Nervous for what could come, however at ease because I knew exactly who it was that I was spending time with.

Vivienne.

And that kind of felt like I was coming back home.

On Saturday I was getting ready in my bedroom, with my door slightly ajar. I had music playing, and I was putting on mascara when I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in." I said.

My mom stood at the door and looked at me getting ready.

"Are you going on a date?" she asked me.

"Um...not exactly." I said back. I put my mascara wand back in the tube and looked at my mom, "I'm seeing Vivienne."

My mom's eyes widened, "Vivienne? How did that happen?"

"Long story short, we have a mutual friend and she lives about a half hour away now. We've seen each other a couple of times through our mutual friend, and now we are hanging out. Alone." I said.

"And you're okay with this? I only ask because I know how heartbroken you were when you and her ended things the last time." My mom looked a bit concerned.
