"I'm worried I did the wrong thing, Liv."

That night I had called Olivia after I had gotten home from Vivienne's. I gave her the rundown on what happened.

"You did the right thing." she said, "Vivienne was just upset in the moment because she doesn't want to face her parents, which I totally understand. But what she said was concerning, especially if she has felt this way in the past."

"She has severe depression." I said, "While it doesn't come out often anymore, especially because she is medicated, I know high stress situations, like law school, can really bring it out."

"Hence why you did the right thing." Olivia reassured me, "She will realize it. Maybe she already has. She's not just going to not call you, Char."

"I've been worried about that."

"What? No way. She's basically your girlfriend. She just needs to cool off and she will start to see clearly. I'm proud of you for contacting her parents, for what it's worth."

"Thank you." I said, "I just don't want her to feel like I was trying to force her to talk to her parents."

"She said some scary things. She needed to talk to them, whether she liked it or not."

Right after Olivia said that, I received a phone call from Vivienne.

"Vivienne is calling me." I said, "Mind if I take it?"

"No, no. Go ahead." Olivia said, and I ended the call with her and answered Vivienne.

"Hey." I said, nervously.

"Hi." Vivienne said back, "Um, can I come by?"

"Of course." I said. It was close to 10 PM, but I didn't care. I would have seen her if it was 3 AM.

"Okay." Vivienne said back, "Thank you. I'll text you when I get there."

I found myself pacing around my room as I waited for Vivienne to get to my house. As I was pacing, I received a text- from my dad.

What does he want?

The text was him asking me if I wanted to come to Nicole's surprise birthday party on February 5th. And in the text he said he would love to have me there.

I texted him back saying I would come.

Why not?

And then he responded that I could bring someone if I wanted to.

Maybe Vivienne would want to come? I'll see.

When Vivienne pulled up to my house, I walked out to her car. It was raining out, and I put on a large gray hoodie, leggings, and Nike sneakers.

Normally I wouldn't dress so casual- but it was raining and I wanted to be comfortable.

Vivienne was wearing something very similar. Except her hoodie was purple and had a zipper. Her hair was in a ponytail- and she had on her glasses.

She gave me a small smile when I got into the passenger seat.

"Glad we both had a casual look in mind tonight." she said, "I couldn't bring myself to dress up. And I feel comfortable doing that around you."

"Please, it's raining. And it's been quite the day." I said.

"Want to go to the diner?" Vivienne asked me, "I am hungry, and I can't think of anything else that's open."

There was a diner about 15 minutes away that was open 24 hours. I hadn't been there before with Vivienne- but they had great pancakes.

"Sure." I said, "I would be down for some chocolate chip pancakes."
