-Chapter 1: Imperfection-

"We are the lost souls, wandering in the night. Trapped in our mind from anxiety, and find inner peace in a world of chaos."

(Three Months Ago

Nobody is ever perfect.

That's what I always thought, but the world seemed to disagree. People flocked to read stories about flawless protagonists and happy endings. But what about the rest of us? The ones who are flawed, traumatized, broken?

Well, my boss didn't seem to think like me.

"Absolutely not." She narrowed her eyes at me behind her sharp bordered glasses.

"Huh?" I tilted my head in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Nobody is going to read a novel about imperfect characters, Rosa," she said, rubbing her temples with a unpleasant sigh. "Have you ever read Fifty Shades of Grey? Christian Gray, perfection. Twilight? Edward Cullen, perfection. That's what readers want."

I chewed my bottom lip in anxiety. Her examples are the popular guys from popular novels and she was right about their perfection but i wanted another thing. I wanted chaos, imperfections, traumas and healings in a novel.

I felt a surge of annoyance ripple through me. Why couldn't my boss see that there was more to life than perfection?

I took a deep breath and tried to stay calm.

"I just think that some readers want stories that are more relatable, more realistic," I said. "Imperfect characters give readers permission to express their own flaws and struggles. I think people are tired of perfect stories. I know I am."

She looked at me while tapping my folder with her manicured fingers. Judging eyes. I am sick of those. Just because she is my boss, that doesn't mean she has the right to reject my every opinion.

"Rosa stop with the 'Nobody is perfect.' nonsense. Nobody is gonna love that idea of yours. I am sick of your nonsense, you literally keep insisting about it.."

While she keeps talking about the 'nonsense' i am doing, she looks like the witch from the movie named Spirited Away with her long red manicured fingers. What was that character's name again?

Oh, Yubaba.

Yep, she looks like Yubaba now. Definitely. I imagined her counting the jeweleries with those long red nails.

It is funny as hell.

A chuckle raised from my throat but i immediately stopped it. She raised her eyebrow with an unpleasant expression.

"Something funny?" she scoffed.

Shit.

I coughed a bit, trying to stiffle my chuckle, "Ahem-no there is nothing funny." I took a deep breath. "Uh..i just think people has challenges in life and we must focus on challenges and traumas so people can heal and grow up-"

"Well here is a challenge for you. You are fired." She murmured, cutting my sentence in half.

Excuse me?

"What?" i raised my eyebrow while smiling nervously.

Is she firing me now? Are you fucking kidding me?

"Don't worry, you will heal and grow up right?" she smirked.

Oh i wanted to punch this old bitch's face so much!
