Day two: Mikey apparently untied him from a chair. I regret shouting. I regret scolding him. I regret everything I did to him. Everything.

For the next few days, Frank would stay in the basement, and Gerard would leave a plate of food in the middle of the room for Frank to eat from. After Gerard saw Frank was untied, he had shouted at Mikey, which led to Mikey staying locked in his room for a few hours. But Gerard apologized, and Mikey forgave him.

On top of that, Mikey would constantly beg Gerard to help him with writing, and, eventually, Mikey was able to write every letter on his own. Sure, he had a chart up in his room to help him, but he didn't need Gerard's help anymore. To Mikey, that was good. But not to anybody else.

One day when Mikey had went to the living room to watch cartoons on the television that he had paid more attention to, Gerard sat down on the couch next to Mikey. That hadn't happened in a while. But that didn't really raise any suspicions to Mikey. There was only one problem. Mikey was acting really weird.

When Gerard spoke to Mikey, Mikey responded in short, quick answers no longer than a few words, and, after maybe a week or so, Mikey completely stopped talking. His hands kept shaking, and he was starting to refuse any foods Gerard fed him. Of course, he did eat. Only a few bites before shoving his plate away.

On top of everything else going on, Mikey's sleep schedule was getting worse and worse. It wasn't until Gerard had tried going to the Box to put something in it that Mikey finally spoke after probably weeks.

Gerard reached out for the lid of the Box, and Mikey's eyes widened. "D-Don't open it!" Mikey exclaimed. His face wore an expression of panic, fear, worry, and dread. Something that wasn't good. But Gerard had just sighed and sat the item on top of the Box. He left the closet, glancing at Mikey, who looked at the ground.

And then, one day…

Mikey disappeared.

Gerard didn't want to open Mikey's door as he didn't want to just look in Mikey's room and see him possibly just sitting on his bed. That's what Gerard assumed. Of course, he wasn't the smartest person on earth. He should have checked Mikey's room. That was his biggest mistake of his life.

Hell, he didn't even really consider opening the door to Mikey's room. He just assumed Mikey was in his room and dropped the thought. Which means he forgot that Mikey might be in his room, and Gerard eventually grabbed the phone off its cradle in the kitchen. He dialed the emergency number, listening to it ring.
