Kassandra woke up with a headache. She looked around and everything started spinning. She was in her room. She was still wearing the black dress, no shoes. She got up and ran towards the bathroom to throw up. As she walked out of the bathroom she crashed into her mother. She looked at her disappointed and handed her a glass of orange juice and two aspirins. "I asked you not to go there." Terri whispered.
Kassandra walked back to her room and sat on the bed. She took the aspirin. "Why are you whispering?"
"I don't want your brother to know. You look like crap."
"How did I get home?"
"I don't know, you were here by the time we got home. You don't remember anything?"
"Last thing I remember was arguing with German. Mom, he has changed a lot."
"That's why we didn't want you to go to him. Now that you know, I want you to go back to school. There's nothing left for you here."
"You guys are here."
"You know what I mean, Kassie."
"I can't leave yet, mom. I need to find out what is going on with German."
"Kassie, you need to let him go! I forbid you to go see him again. If I find out you went there again, I'll tell Robert and we'll make sure you never come back here again."
"You can't do that."
"Try me, Kassandra. Go take a shower and make yourself presentable."
"Do you guys work tonight?"
"Why?"
"Just asking."
"Asking to see if you can slip away again?" Terri asked as she left the room.
All day she got the silent treatment from Terri, her brother was sleeping all day. Terri went to take a nap and Kassandra got the car keys and drove towards German's house. She rang the doorbell and Martin, the butler, opened the door. "Miss Mills, what a surprise. Haven't seen you in a long time. Come in."
"Thank you, Martin. Is German home?"
"Yes, he is. He's in the pool. Remember the way?"
"Yes, thank you." She said as she walked towards the back of the huge house. She opened the double doors that led to the pool. There in one of the lounge chairs laid German. "How did I get home last night?" She asked, standing next to him.
"Geez, Kass. What the hell?" He asked, getting up. "Don't you get it? We are not friends anymore, stay away from me!"
"Did you take me home?"
"You're disappointed rape boy didn't take you home? Kass, you have to be careful. He was going to drug you. If I wasn't there I don't know what would've happened."
"Thank you."
"You welcome, now, please, leave."
"Why do you hate me, German?"
"I don't hate you, Kass. Things are just different."
"Tell me how. I'm right here. Please, don't push me away, German."
"Kass, you're too good. I can't do this to you."
"Do what? Just tell me!"
"Go home, Kass."
"I'm not giving up on you, German. We've been friends for too long."
She turned around and walked away. She got back to the house as they were sitting down for dinner. "Where were you?" Robert asked.
