Levi walked around the park waiting for his uncle to pick him up. Kenny often left him to play at the park when he had "business" to attend to. It had been this way for about a year. Many days after his mom Kutchel died, a man showed up. He took Levi in and as time went on, Levi noticed this man had similar traits his mother had. He figured Kenny was some sort of relative but just stuck with calling him Kenny.

Levi walked around the sidewalk until he heard another kid.

"Ow, stop that it hurts!" He heard a kid whimper.

Levi turned his head and followed the noise. He saw one kid on the ground and two bigger ones standing in front of the kid on the floor.

"Look at those ugly glasses." One of them said while the other laughed and snatched the glasses off the smaller kid's face.

"What's the matter can't see without them?" They both laughed as the smaller kid tried to get up and reach for their glasses. "Look Jacob, little shrimp is trying to take them from me."

Levi saw the smaller kid get up from the ground and shoved the bigger kid holding his glasses.

"Looks like the little punk wants to fight you, Darren!"

The bigger boy, Darren, grabbed the kid's collar ready to hit him in the face.

That's when Levi felt his hands form a fist. He ran over fast and before Darren could throw his punch, he felt a strong hit to his own face, and the next thing he knew he was knocked down causing the kid he was grabbing to fall as well.

"Darren are you okay?! What's your problem, do you wanna get your butt kicked?"

Levi just made a tck sound and looked at the boy Jacob dead in the eye and said, "Looks to me like the only ones that are gonna get their ass kicked are you two if you don't leave him alone."

Both Darren and Jacob were bigger than Levi, so Jacob took this to his advantage and went to throw a punch at Levi, but Levi dodged it and swung his leg at Jacob making him also fall to the floor.

"Had enough or do you want to keep getting hit?" Levi said.

The two boys just got up and ran away to avoid getting hurt anymore. Levi bent down to pick up the glasses the boys had dropped and handed them to the kid, "Here."

The kid finally looked up at Levi and took the glasses from him, "Th- Thank you".

"You really shouldn't be at the park alone if you can't defend yourself against bigger kids" Levi suggested. He stretched his hand out to help the kid up.

The kid took Levi's hand and gave him a small smile of appreciation. "Sorry, my parents are just running an errand and told me to play with kids at the park. There are usually more parents around."

Even after the kid was on his feet Levi didn't let go. He felt strange grabbing someone's hand. He noticed he was lingering and quickly let go and turned to hide his blushing cheeks. "Whatever, just be more careful". Levi started to walk off, but the kid called out to him.

"Wait! Um, maybe I should hang around you until my parents come back."

Levi blushed again. "I don't care, I'm just walking around. I don't really like going on the big toy or the swings. So many other kids go on there. It's full of germs."

"I don't mind walking around. What's your name?"

"Levi. Just Levi. Yours?"

"Hange Zoe, but you can call me Hans. Nice to meet you!" Hange said with a hand out towards Levi to shake.

Levi looked at Hange and accepted the handshake. "Nice to meet you too." There is was again. The touch of shaking the kids hand made him slightly blush again. He wasn't used to touch so he wasn't familiar with the reaction he kept producing.

The handshake was broken off by a sudden honking of a car. "Ohh, my parents are here I have to go. Maybe I will see you around the park some other time Levi!"

Levi watched Hange run to the car where a woman came out to help Hange get into the car. 15 minutes went by before Levi saw his uncle walk up to him at the park.

"Ready to go kid?"

"Yeah"

"Did you make any friends or are you still a loner?"

"If you count kicking the asses of kids bigger than me making friends sure I made friends."

"HAH! Well, it's a good thing I taught you to look out for yourself. Were they picking on you?"

"No, some other kid much smaller than them."

"Oh, so you did make a friend!"

"I guess. He was a hopeless kid. I kinda felt like I had to help him."

"Well, it's not too bad my errands took a little longer today huh?" Kenny said as he smacked his hand on Levi's shoulder and ruffled his hair."

Levi just rolled his eyes and thought back to shaking Hange's hand. Why did that moment keep coming back into his head? Levi never got attached to people around him since his mom died. Not even his uncle Kenny. Yet he had this feeling in his stomach. He wanted to see that helpless kid again.
