CHAPTER 12: Levi's Birthday

Fall finals were finally over and the dorms were mostly empty with the exception of those who stayed there during the holiday. Levi's birthday is on Christmas day, so they decided to do the get-together a few days prior. There were no more than 15 people there which Levi liked. His usual 5 friends plus some classmates he knew. He was having a good with everyone until an unexpected guest showed up.

"What's up, party people!" Zeke said from the entrance with a six-pack in his hands.

Levi just gave him a fake smile so as to not offend Hange. He saw her walk up to Zeke, and he decided to go into another room to not ruin his mood even more. Just then a short redhead walked up to him.

"Hey! Happy birthday Levi." The girl said.

"Thanks. Petra, right?" he asked.

"Yeah, we've been in the same business classes for 3 semesters."

"Right. Thanks for coming by the way."

"Thanks for having me! I was happy to get the invite from Erwin. To be honest I didn't think you knew I existed or was in your class."

"I just tend to keep to myself."

"Well, maybe we can hang out sometime. Since we have similar classes maybe we can study or something."

Levi tried to focus on what the girl was saying but was distracted when he saw Hange walk by as she walked Zeke out. "Sure." He responded to Petra without knowing what she said. Hange quickly came back and pulled Levi aside.

"I'm sorry. I didn't invite him, but I did tell him I was busy today with your birthday party. Guess he took that as an invitation. He left though."

"It's all right Hans."

"No, it's not. I know how you feel about him. And I know how nice you have been about him being around the group sometimes but today is your day. Anything or anyone you don't want; we won't have."

He just smiled and gave her a nod.

The party ended and everyone went to their rooms. In the days that followed Nanaba left for the weekend because Miche wanted to take her to a nice hotel for a little Christmas getaway.

Moblit was going to fly back to visit his family for the weekend and Erwin was driving to his family's condo where they would be spending Christmas. In the end, it was just Hange and Levi spending his birthday together. The night of the 24th they went out to watch a Christmas movie. Afterward, they went to Levi's dorm.

"Think I can borrow one of your shirts shorty? I want to get out of these day clothes."

"Knock yourself out."

She took a long flannel and some shorts from his closet. The flannel and shorts would fit Levi around his mid-thighs, he tends to use the flannel as a light sweater; but Hange had longer legs, so both fit her even smaller. Levi changed into some thin sweats and a white undershirt, something he usually wears to sleep in. They were making small talk when Hange suddenly tackled Levi on his bed.

"You know, after all this time I don't know why I get surprised when you tackle me like that," he said as he looked up at her.

"Hahah, me either. I want to give you one of your presents!" She said and she searched her bag.

"One of them? How many did you get me?" he asked.

"I guess three but this one is first," she said as she handed him a bag with two medium-sized brownies.

"What the hell is this?"

"You know. Special brownies" she said with a wink.

"Wait, are you serious? Where did you get them?" he asked confused.
