“Mumma, I don't want to get married,” Sahasra complained to her mother. “Especially to that guy Nikhil.”
“You have to beta, it's a part of life,” her mother scolded her. “And you cannot call your to-be husband ‘that guy’.”
The marriage of Sahasra Kashyap, the widow of an army officer ‘Tanmay’, had been fixed with Nikhil Reddy, another army officer and a widower.
Three months had passed since her husband’s demise. Actually, there was no love between the two people. Tanmay had left on their wedding night for an emergency at Jammu, and just three days later he returned wrapped in the Tricolour.
Sahasra's face was devoid of emotions that day — she barely knew the guy ― but she cried for the world to see.
“But mumma, he’s an army officer too. I don't want to walk through the same road again,” Sahasra tried to convince her mother. “What if history repeats itself?”
“You have to move on from your past,” said her mother.

Two months had passed since his wife’s accident which led to him losing his life partner. Unlike Sahasra, his was a love marriage, and so, the pain and grief was much higher, and his tears were real.
