For the next few months, Nikhil acted like an idiot whenever Sahasra was around — he'd always be in a good mood, and he was less harsh with the other trainees as well.

And now, the trainees were getting into drills of handling the plane. Sahasra was busy, and so was he. In fact, he wasn't even teaching her anymore — he was supposed to go back to his original Delhi base soon.

They would meet one another during lunch or dinner, but they hardly talked. They would just stare at each other and smile.

One day Sahasra decided to talk to him. "Meet me at the ground tonight," she said.

She arrived at the venue first, so to kill time she decided to do a few laps. So focused was she on running that she didn't realize that he was standing on her running track — and ultimately crashed into him, making them both fall.

"My worst nightmare came true," Nikhil got up and started to laugh. "A hippo ran towards me and literally crashed into me!"

Sahasra stood up, breathing heavily due to running, and hit him. "It was a nightmare for me as well to crash into a gadha."

Nikhil let out a sigh.

"So—" Sahasra bent down, taking support of her knees. "I wanted to say—"

"First breathe, let your heart rate come back to normal, then talk," Nikhil replied.

My heart always races whenever it comes to you, Sahasra's subconscious mind said, but she retained her thoughts within herself.

"So," she repeated looking up at him, "Why are you always staring at me – it has increased over the past weeks. I know I'm irresistible but still..."

"Don't think so highly of yourself," Nikhil frowned. "I don't always stare at you. I've got better work to do."

"Oh please, stop lying," Sahasra rolled her eyes.

"Well I was thinking since I'm leaving in two days, how will you survive without my advice and lessons that I give you in between?"

"Now look who's thinking so high of themself! Don't worry, I have other coaches. By the way, I heard Raj has been suspended and an inquiry is going on."

"I don't want to talk about him," he replied, annoyed.

"Okay," Sahasra replied. "You know what?"

"What?" Nikhil asked.

"I will miss you," Sahasra admitted. "I know you won't, but I will."

"I will try to visit," Nikhil replied in a low voice.

Why am I feeling sad all of a sudden? I need to go back to Delhi but... now... I don't want to?
He was debating his decision of going back internally.

"Yeah right! Just take care of yourself, okay? That's fine for me," Sahasra said, concerned.

"Even you. Take care of your talkative mind," Nikhil said. "And please don't do 'hippo running' anymore — others will get scared."

"ARGHHH!" She hit him angrily. "I'm not a hippo! Stop calling me that!"

"Sahasra," Nikhil became serious and pulled her closer. Sahasra got nervous with the sudden change in the situation. Why is my heart rate high again? She wondered.

"Huh?" She muttered as she got lost in his eyes. Nikhil caressed her cheeks — and Sahasra froze. He looks so caring and vulnerable right now, she thought.

"I will really miss you, I'll miss you more than you miss me," and with that Nikhil kissed her cheeks. Sahasra's eyes widened in shock — and with that Nikhil smiled and walked away.

He looked back and winked at seeing her flustered reaction. Sahasra snapped out of her lala land and came back to reality.

Nikhil had... kissed me?
And I'm just standing here like an idiot?

She thought and started running towards her husband.

He felt her presence and turned around. "What now?" He asked.

Sahasra immediately hugged him and said, "Not fair! You can't just kiss someone and go away. Tell me something sweet."

"Kaju katli is something sweet," Nikhil said and Sahasra broke the hug and pushed him away. "Gadha," she commented and folded her hands.

"Okay sorry," Nikhil cupped her cheeks again. "Wanna go somewhere else for some fresh air? Cuz you've taken my breath away."

Sahasra smiled, "Wow! You're good in pickup lines."

"Now even you have to tell me something," Nikhil smirked.

Sahasra went closer to him and stared right into his eyes. Nikhil was transfixed at the spot as well. "Do you have a map cause I'm lost in your eyes," Sahasra said, smiling.

Sahasra leaned in when they both heard a loud voice.

"SAHASRA!!"

It was Ramya. Sahasra looked at Nikhil, blushing, and then ran towards her friend. Nikhil, who was embarrassed as well, went back to his dorm.

"What are you doing here?" Sahasra asked Ramya.

"I came to call you. The warden lady is doing a check today," Ramya replied. "You told you had some 'important business' to do — and I saw you and Captain doing some really important deed."

"Shut up! And if you tell anyone, I'll—" Sahasra started but was interrupted by Ramya. "Yeah, I know. I won't tell," she said and both the girls walked back to the hostel.

In the hostel, after the warden checked all the beds, Ramya beckoned Sahasra.

"So, what do you feel about Captain Nikhil Reddy?" she asked.

"What do you mean?" Sahasra said.

"You were legit about to kiss him, dummy! Do you like him or something? I bet you do, you were blushing as red as a siren that time."

"I don't know actually..." Sahasra said. Ramya told her to think about it, and Sahasra didn't sleep well that day as she was left hanging on the uncertain feelings that were being developed on both sides.
