Sahasra was dressing up as a bride for her marriage. She didn’t agree to it, but her mother emotionally blackmailed her ― she stopped eating and drinking and would lie in bed, counting her ‘leftover days’. At the end, Sahasra had to give in.
The young bride was upset that her mother had fixed her marriage with an army official yet again, but she was furious at the fact that her chosen husband was Nikhil.
When they were kids, Nikhil used to tease her in school and she hated him since then. According to her, he was an arrogant, annoying man.

On the other hand, Nikhil’s Maa (mother) and Dadi (grandmother) applied the same blackmailing technique.
He wasn’t agreeing to the marriage either ― he loathed Sahasra. According to him, she was a cranky, grumpy girl. But in the end, he had to give in to his mother's demands as well.
Nikhil’s Maa and Dadi had forced him to take a long leave for the marriage and honeymoon, and he wasn’t happy with it. He adored his occupation as a soldier, and wanted to fulfill his duty to the country every second of his life.

Most of the pre-marriage rituals were done really fast, or just excluded. Mainly because this was a marriage between a widow and a widower ― and both families didn’t receive enough support from their relatives.
At the mandap, Nikhil frowned as Sahasra sat next to him.
“My luck is so bad that I'm getting married to you,” Sahasra said while pushing his hand.
“Mine is even worse. I’m getting married to a witch,” Nikhil whispered back, earning a disgusted glance from his to-be wife.
“Beta, bring your hands forward please,” the pandit requested to start the main ceremony.
Sahasra and Nikhil obliged, both putting on fake smiles for the camera.
During the pheras, Nikhil purposely walked slowly to piss her off ― and Sahasra wanted to kick him from behind. “I’ll take revenge when we're alone Mr.Nikhil,” she whispered.
During the vidaai, Sahasra didn’t even cry. “Look at the result of your blackmail, mumma,” she warned her mother. “I don't feel any emotions, and I'm not going to fake anything.”
She then sat in the car with Nikhil, and the driver started the car. Nikhil’s Maa and Dadi were coming from another vehicle, to give the new couple ‘privacy’.
When they left the avenue, both spoke together, “Don’t expect anything from me,” and looked outside the window.
“The outside world is so colourful, unlike mine,” Sahasra mumbled, her eyes viewing the scenery outside. “Some person re-enterer and made my world black and white.”
“Don’t behave like a Gadha!” she replied and made a face.
“Me? Gadha? Get your eyes checked young lady. You’re the one who's a chudail in my life,” Nikhil replied back. “Ugh, kahan phas gaya yaar.”
“Even I’m stuck with a donkey,” Sahasra retorted. “It’s all because of blackmail.”
“I agree with the second part,” Nikhil replied, "Anyway, we have to leave for the honeymoon my mother forcibly made me book. Tomorrow is the flight, so be ready. We’re going to Shimla.”
“Shimla? Seriously? Couldn’t you pick Chennai or Vishakapatnam? Beaches are way better than mountains!” Sahasra complained.
“Whatever!” Nikhil replied and threw his head back on the window, and so did Sahasra.
“We reached home, sir,” the driver said and Sahasra immediately came out, slammed the door and rushed into the house.
“Chudail kahinki,” Nikhil sighed.
It was their first night, but it wasn’t like the ones shown in movies or Indian soaps.
Sahasra and Nikhil kept six pillows in between them and slept ― they were tired of all the drama that had happened. All they wanted was a good night’s sleep.
In the morning, Sahasra woke to find herself alone on the single bed. He’s an army officer, must have gotten up at 4am or something, she thought.
She freshened up and went to the kitchen. Her mother-in-law was already there.
“Namaste Sasu Maa,” Sahasra bent down to touch her feet.
“Good morning beta,” her mother-in-law blessed her. “Don't call me ‘sasu-maa’, call me ‘maa’.”
“Okay, Maa,” Sahasra smiled. If it wasn't obvious, Sahasra did not have a pleasant relationship with her own mother. But since the start, she felt a strong connection with her mother-in-law, and now she could call her ‘Maa’! She was more than happy to do that.
Her mother-in-law said sweetly, “Why did you wake up now? Go back to sleep.”
“No Maa, as per the ritual, I have to make something sweet for the family,” Sahasra said and started searching for the materials.
Her mother-in-law helped her ― telling her the location of the ingredients. Apart from making sweet halwa, Sahasra also helped the servants of the house in making breakfast.
All this while, Nikhil was sitting on the sofa, reading the newspaper. But when Sahasra was going to add sugar into the halwa, he immediately got up and rushed towards her.
“Stop!!” he shouted.
