Everything is done.

"Nothing else lurks behind shadows, everything has been accounted for. I've finally done it, I can finally rest for a while." Naruto had started a one-sided conversation with Ayame out of pure excitement.

"You know, no that you finally have some time... you want to go on a date?" Naruto flushed hard.

Ayame had just turned 15. The age gap was there but quite small. The two looked at each other embarrassed, but hopeful.

"Sure, I wouldn't mind a date!" Naruto beamed.

Ayame donned an equal grin, both static at the situation.

The two sat at a diner table making small talk, giggling at the occasional joke. Naruto could be seen with a wide smile, splitting his face to the ears. Ayame had a soft but genuine smile on her face, her eyes squinted pleasantly.

"I'll have the Grilled Chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. What about you Ayame?" Ayame smiled.

"I'll have the Pork Steak with the same sides please." Ayame gave a soft smile to the waiter who took their menus.

The two continued talking with Ayame laughing harder and harder as time passed.

"-Hokage Dattebayo!" Naruto and Ayame broke down in giggles.

"You used to be so goofy Naruto. I remember those times too, but hearing that voice again..." Ayame shook with giggles. Naruto smiled hard at the sound of her laugh. "You were cute then. You still are."

Naruto blushed a bit. "I remember you used to follow your dad around all the time, you always looked so excited to see me when I walked into the stand. As we grew the look changed. I guess I know why now!" Naruto smiled wide.

"One thing that hasn't changed is that you're cheese-y." Ayame giggled with a slight blush.

The two were interrupted by their meals being put in front of them.

On one plate:

A large, well-seared, well-cooked chicken breast alongside about two potatoes mashed and pan-roasted green beans. Naruto could see the dollop of butter on his mashed potatoes, a trademark of the restaurant's potatoes in Uzu.

On the other:

A medium/large pork steak that was seared on both sides sat in the top left corner of the plate, a small wine sauce dripping off the edge of the meat. Two potatoes mashed with a dollop of butter and pan-roasted green beans.

The two looked at their meals as their mouths watered. Naruto cut into his chicken to see it dripping with moisture. 'A fatty cut, a good trim too. I hate the veins.' Naruto began to eat slowly and couldn't stop himself from eating faster.

Ayame did the same, inevitably following suit. Eating faster, in tune with Naruto's movements. It didn't take long for the two of them to finish their meals. The two just sat in satisfied silence.

Naruto looked to the window and widened his eyes.

"It's already dark! I'd better walk you home." Naruto smiled and took Ayame's hand. The two paid for their meal and went home.

The two quickly arrived at Ayame's home. Naruto looked at Ayame.

"Tonight was fun, Ayame. It's the first time I've unwound since I started training under... him." Ayame gave a sad smile. "So thank you. This was very good for me."

"Oh, Naruto." Ayame poked Naruto on the forehead before kissing him on the lips.

"You can be such an idiot, you know that?" Naruto gave a wide smile. "I had a great time too. Let's do it again soon, K?" Naruto nodded vigorously before Ayame kissed his forehead and went inside.

Naruto stood right outside her door, a hand holding his lips and his forehead.

'Maybe... everything will be ok.'

And finally.

He was right.

End.
