🎵 heize - the last

The day many people have been waiting for has finally arrived. The day when finally the decorations that had been put up for a long time can embrace its meaning. The day where you witness all the doctors and nurses dress up in Santa Claus costumes to celebrate Christmas at the hospital, so that patients who can't go out don't feel left out.

While sitting on the bed, you've just finished replying to Christmas greeting messages from people who are close to you. Of course the first one is your mother. Then some of your friends in LA and also the members. Choi PD also sent you a message, even sending you a photo of him with his family. Receiving lots of kind words makes you forget your worries for a while.

But after all the messages were answered, the euphoria passed just like that. You feel empty especially when you stare at your bag on the side table right next to your bed. More precisely, remembering the letter of dismissal that you still keep inside. You're not ready to tell anyone yet.

You were about to take out the letter when the door swung wide open. Luckily you still have time to put it back, even though your heart beat become unstable now.

"Merry Christmas!" Jeonghan with a big smile greeted you from behind the door.

"Merry Christmas." You greeted him back, "Look, look." You slowly get off your bed to show him that now you're able to walk slowly without the help of crutches, although not for too long.

Even though Jeonghan was very happy to see your recovery progress, his face mostly filled with panic when you stumbled forward. With wide steps he swiftly catches you before you fall.

"That was amazing but let's just take it slow, aight? Don't rush the process." He take your crutches along with him, "Let's go."

"Go....where?" You're holding onto the wall as you follow him towards the door.

When Jeonghan opened the door, your heart almost stopped when you saw the head nurse standing right in front of your room. Usually she's the strictest when it comes to you leaving your room, even if it's just a short walk. You wonder if she knew about you leaving the hospital the other day when her piercing gaze pierced yours.

"Eyyyy.." Jeonghan bursted into a small chuckle while giving her an OK sign, "Before the sun sets, right? I know, I get it."

"Make sure to write the name properly." She warned, took one last glance at you before leaving.

Again, Jeonghan answered with such a sweet tone. He watched her from behind the door until she disappeared around a corner. Once she's no longer seen, Jeonghan grabbed your arm gently to guide the way out, "Let's go."

"Go where? What happened?" You keep asking him the same question while looking back and forth.

Jeonghan checked the large wooden wall clock that was displayed behind the main reception desk as you two walked through the lobby towards the exit.

"We don't have that much time, I promised her I'd take you back before sunset." He asked the valet to escort his car back to the lobby.

"Her?" You asked after checking the clock which already show two o'clock in the afternoon. With a brow raised you keep staring at Jeonghan.

"..What?" His pursed lips almost remind you of Seungcheol. His defensive mode already tells a lot about something he does but doesn't tell you yet.

"Yoon Jeonghan?" You called his name with suspicious tone. At the corner of your eye you can see a familiar car slowly approaching.

Jeonghan took advantage of the situation to buy time by tucking your crutches into the back seat. He then opened the passenger door for you. However you're still reluctant to enter if you haven't get any answer. When Jeonghan leaned his head towards the door you simply replied with shoulders shrugged.
