Karishma’s POV

"So how come only Karu mama went for Masters at first?" Arya asked.

"It didn't start out that way," Haseena said. "We got accepted into Masters together and even started classes together. Your Karu mama, had nearly a full ride for this ALA program and well that's what she did. I didn't get nearly as many scholarships and it just was costing way too much money."

"So you dropped out?" Orhan questioned.

"I went back eventually but yeah, I did for a while. But I'll never forget when we first got accepted to the same university."
.............

"That was a great day, it was my birthday too," KS said, grinning.

"My mom texted me and said I got a letter back from University today," Haseena said, taking my hand in her as we walked out to her car.

"My mom told me the same thing. Do you want to pick up my letter and we can go to yours and open them together?" I asked.

Haseena and I had started carpooling to campus. It just made sense considering after school we were always at each other's houses and when her mom wasn't being too insane, I slept over or she slept over.

"Yeah, let's do that." Haseena answered.

"I'm nervous," I admitted.

"Why? I'm sure you got in."

"What if I didn't? Or what if I didn't get enough financial aid and i'm going to like live in debt for the rest of my life?" I questioned Haseena.

"Karishma, trust me I'm sure you got everything."

I sighed and shrugged my shoulders.

"Hey, I got you a present," Haseena said, bumping her shoulder against mine.

"I told you not to get me anything."

"Why wouldn't I get you something? My beautiful girlfriend turns twenty-two today!"

"I know how old I turned," I said. "But I told you I don't like birthday presents. Your presence is the best present."

"Okay, but I still got you something anyway and it's at my house." Haseena answered.

"Why?" I questioned.

"Why what? Why did I get you stuff? Because I love you and I wanted to."

"I love you too but you know I didn't want anything," I complained.

"Too bad, I saved up for it and you got it."

"Hase," I whined.

"What? You're gonna love it Karu!"

"I know I will but if it's expensive I'm going to feel bad."

"Well don't feel bad, it was a little expensive but it was so worth it." Hase told me.

"I feel bad!"

"Don't!"

"Too late."

I let out a whine.

"Karu, I hate you sometimes. You never let me spend money on you so just let me this once."

"Fine," I grumbled.

"Thank you."

"Why do you hate me?" I complained.

"I don't hate you!"

"Yeah, you do."

"If I hated you I wouldn't have given you your 20 kisses on your birthday!"

"You haven't done it yet!" I exclaimed.
