Luna smiled awkwardly at the dragon standing in the center of Mrs. Viperbite's classroom. "Class, this is Whisper. She's a last minute student who is here because of the war happening between the faerie dragons and the westerns. Have a seat, please. And Whisper? you'll be staying in room 302." That was two rooms from Luna's.

Whisper looked around the room and sat in the empty seat in between Leafy and a shiny lion. Although Mrs. Viper it's began the lesson for the day, Luna couldn't help overhearing Leafy's questions to Whisper. "Who are your parents? How old are you? Do you like reading? Did you fight in the war? Any siblings? Where do you live?"

Whisper was much better at... well, whispering, than Leafy. From what Luna could make out, Whisper lived with her mother and father in a wing of the tribe leader's palace. Her father was advisor to the queen, and she was her mother's apprentice in blacksmithing. No, she did not like reading. She was an only child and had not been involved in the war, although a recent attack near the palace led her father to send her here.

The blacksmithing intrigued Luna, so she sought out Whisper at lunch. That was where she found the first lie. She found Whisper reading in the library, and tapped her on the shoulder. "Why you reading?" Luna asked.

Whisper's eyes flashed with recognition. "You heard me, didn't you." She looked down at the book she was reading, "Tales of the Faeries". "I don't suppose you'd fall for it if I told you this was homework."

Luna shook her head.
