The wind was blowing harshly, whistling as it flew between the small spaces of stone and ice, the snow blowing by, feeling like tiny daggers as it blew by there faces sharply. Foxglove was shivering, the tips of her fingers felt numb but held there rosy colour, her hair covered in snow

"We cant go on! It's storming too hard" Aragorn called out

"Keep moving" Gandalf answered

They kept pushing against the wind and snow, flakes of snow scattered on there hair. Foxglove felt so cold, having nothing to block the wind with. Legolas stared up at the sky for a moment before a low whisper was heard

It grew louder to the sound of a man, sounding similar to Gandalf as it chanted something, the sound was eery and cryptic

The group stopped, Gandalf leaned against the edge for a moment as he heard the words of Saruman being chanted, sending a strike of lighting to the top of the mountain

BOOM

"it's Saruman!" Legolas yelled

"Against the wall" Boromir called out

They all went against the wall as large blocks and crumbs of ice fell down the mountain

Foxglove was freezing now, the bit of colour fading from her fingers as she looked at them, she placed her hands under her arms, trying to warm them

"He's bringing down the mountain!" Boromir yelled out

Gandalf had a grim expression as another bolt of lightning struck, this time sending boulders and stone down the mountain. He seemed to consider wether or not to continue

Foxglove let out a small whimper, her fingers and cheeks hurting from the cold. Aragorn turned to her, hearing the quiet whimper from her. His expression turned to one of worry as he looked at her

"Foxglove, Foxglove look at me" he spoke with that kind tone of voice

She looked up at him for a moment before he carefully took her hands into his, they weren't incredibly warm but much warmer compared to her hands. He clasped her hands for a moment then brought them to his neck, his neck felt warm "hold your hands there" he stared into her hazel eyes for a moment before wrapping his arms around her and holding her against him

"We can't keep going!" Boromir called out to Gandalf

"We'll be crushed or freeze if we continue on this mountain" Aragorn yelled afterwards

"We should go into the mines like I said! We'd get a royal welcome from my cousin" Gimli said, a bit of bitterness in his voice

Gandalf groaned as he knew they couldn't continue "we shall go to the mines of Moria" he commanded before turning around, his expression remained grim but a hint of worry appeared

He seemed to know something but wasn't sure if he should say it, something dangerous was in that mine

The group nodded and descended the mountain, it was growing dark outside as the piercing wind blew, small bits of ice and large boulders falling still. Some snow fell onto sam

Sam exclaimed before quickly pushing and throwing the snow off and digging the bit that went down his neck

Aragorn looked at Foxglove, holding her for a moment before hesitantly standing up "stand by Gimli, he's still warm"

Foxglove nodded then broke from his arms and stood by his Gimli, feeling some of his body warmth radiate off him

Gimli then handed her something "for you lass" it was a small piece of a rabbit's pelt. She grabbed it and placed it against her cold hands, blocking the cold from her fingers

"Thank you Gimli"

Legolas himself didn't seem to do to well, his body was paler then usual, his hood up as he shivered

"Turn right into the cave, we'll descend from there" Aragorn turned right and entered the cave, feeling the cold wind and snow disappear

The cave wasn't warm but it wasn't freezing either, it was enough for them all to warm up. Legolas pulled his hood down and placed his hands between his arms and torso

Foxglove gave Gimli the rabbits pelt back. She then began to blow onto her hands and rub them together.

The cold was gone, but the cave didn't feel any better, it may have not have been deathly cold, but it had a chill to it then made some of then go on edge. It felt somber in way as they descended through the cave, heading to the doors of Moria
