Nicolina Martell moves to Jacksonville to escape her past, but she runs right into the world she tried to escape from.
Mitch Warner is a mute underg...
Mitch and I had attempted to resume our morning, but the keyword was 'attempted'. His mother called his name downstairs, so we quickly parted.
Mitch pulled a shirt over his head and I headed down behind him. "Ah, Mitch- my dear nephew" A voice said, the voice gave me goosebumps, it didn't sound as nice as you'd expect.
"Who is your friend?" The man asked as I came into his view, I had expected Mitch to greet him but he froze on the stairs, which left me unable to walk past him.
"I'm Nicolina" I said and waved to both Mitch's mother and his uncle, since Mitch wasn't moving, I couldn't shake their hands.
"Ah, Nicolina-what a beautiful name" His uncle said and looked at Mitch with a weird look in his eyes. "I'm his uncle Thomas and this is Mitch's mother Catherine" He said and I gave Mitch's mother a smile.
She returned it, but I could tell she was nervous. Something was very wrong here, I just didn't know what. "I think it's time for you to leave, Nicolina. We have some business meetings to attend to, all three of us. Mitch is very busy" Thomas said.
I stepped around Mitch and turned to him. 'Are you okay?' I signed to him with my back to them. 'No' He signed back, he looked at me with worry as well.
"Come on, Mitch. Say goodbye, we're busy" Thomas commented. 'Just go, I'll find you later' He signed and I nodded with hesitation. "Okay" I whispered and he nodded.
I turned on my heel and stepped around his uncle and mother, his mother gave me a sad smile and I felt the whole thing become even more weird. I hurried into my car and raced off, I called Francesca and asked if I could get ready with her for the party.
Mama Dawson was excited to see me, when I pulled up in front of their house. "What a beauty-oh and the car is nice too!" She gasped and laughed before pulling me into a hug.
I couldn't help but laugh as well, her energy was infectious. She put her arm around my shoulders and brought me inside the house.
Celina and Francesca were already getting started. I joined them and I ended up borrowing a short leather skirt from Francesca and a leather bandeau top with no straps.
"Fuck, you look hot in leather" Francesca gushed before refilling the vodka shot. I downed it and winced at the taste.
Hours later, we were ready. Mama Dawson had driven us to the nightclub the party was hosted in. I had no idea who hosted the party, but I was gladly going to celebrate whatever the reason for it was.
Francesca, Celina and I walked into the club with ease, we got past the growing line out front. Francesca sure knew the right people.
The music was blasting through the entire club, it was loud as hell. The buzz I had going on was only growing when I felt the vibe. Francesca grabbed my hips as we immediately joined the dancing crowd, Oliver had already pulled Celina away.
An hour into the party, Mitch still hadn't shown up, all of the guys had checked in, but Mitch was still to show up.
I was starting to get worried when the second hour passed, so I checked in with West. "Have Mitch shown?" I called into his ear. Sophia was under his arm as he held her and he shook his head no.
"Actually- scratch that he's over there" West shouted and nodded his head in the opposite direction. I followed his gaze and my heart sank, he was sitting on a chair, a drink in his hand, a girl on his lap.
His eyes didn't meet hers, he didn't pay attention. He looked out of it, I would even dare to say he looked numb and just something about his eyes that said he wasn't present.
"What the fuck" I shouted. West cursed under his breath as I stormed off into his direction. I grabbed the girl's high ponytail and yanked her off, I heard a low thud as her ass collided with the floor.
"Mitch? What the fuck!" I shouted at him. He didn't react at all, his eyes lazily blinked, the girl ran off crying and I narrowed my eyes on him.
Then Oliver came up behind me. "That was fucking awesome, I love you" He laughed and swung his arm over my shoulder. "Oliver, how much has he had to drink?" I ask and nod at Mitch, who's still not acknowledging us at all.
"Two drinks, he's been here for twenty minutes," Oliver said, confused. "What? He's been here for twenty minutes and he's this drunk? That's impossible?" I said.
"He hadn't been drinking when he checked in, he was fine. That is odd" Oliver commented. I kneeled between his legs and put my hands on Mitch's thighs.
"Mitch? Can you hear me?" I called out, his head hung low and his eyes seemed to focus on me, a sheepish smile creeped onto his face. His pupils were dilated and almost filled his entire orbs. He was intoxicated. Someone gave him something or he took something unwillingly.
"Oliver, someone drugged him" I concluded. "Mitch-Baby, can you hear me?" I call out and reach up to cup his face in my hands. He just smiles and closes his eyes as he leans into my hands.
That's when I noticed the blackeye. He's been in a fight. "What happened to you?" My voice cracked as I stood up and continued holding his face. "Look at me, Mitch. Don't close your eyes" I told him, his eyes opened slightly but his smile was still wide and cute as ever. How could someone drug him?
Him of all people? He couldn't tell anyone or ask for help...not a single person.
"Guys, get out of here, can you drive?" Oliver asked me. He scanned our surroundings and I feared the worst. "Yes, I can drive," I confirmed. I hadn't been drinking for the last two hours and I barely had three shots of vodka and no alcoholic drinks.
"Here's his keys, don't take him home, take him to my house" Oliver said, I nodded and he gave me the address. "Get going, I'll grab everyone and get them to my place" Oliver added and I nodded once again.
Oliver rummaged Mitch's pockets and threw his car keys at me. I caught them and Oliver helped me out of the club with Mitch. "Who would do this, Oliver? Who!" I snapped.
"I-I don't know. Just keep your phone on, I'll let you know when I've gotten everyone" He said and closed the door as Mitch was in the passenger seat.
"Okay" I called out as I ran to the other side of the car. I got in and raced down the street. "Just hang on, Mitch" I whispered as I glanced at him who looked like his entire world was spinning.
Fifteen intense minutes later, I pulled up at Oliver's house. "Excuse me? Who are you?" A younger boy asked. I froze immediately and paused as I was trying to get Mitch out of the car.
"Hi-uhm, Oliver sent me here" I said and turned around to face the boy. He looked like a younger version of Oliver. "Oh-hi Mitch!" He said and waved, but when Mitch didn't respond worry flashed across the young boy's face.
"Something happened and uhm-I need to get Mitch inside, is that okay?" I asked him. The boy nodded his head and even came up to me to help him.
"Is he okay?" The boy asked and I nodded. "I just need to get him to a bed, do you have a guest room?" I asked the boy who nodded his head.
He helped me get Mitch inside, though it was hard due to Mitch's size. We got him in and the boy got him into the usual room he stayed at, because he apparently had his own room there.
The boy was Oliver's younger brother Michael. He let me stay as we got Mitch on the bed. I stripped him of his shirt and held a cold cloth to his burning skin, I stayed with him till Oliver and everyone showed up.
