Chapter 37
- Alexandra's POV -
A few weeks had passed since New Year's Day. David turned 17, I still went to college during the day and to work during the night and The Beatles were still The Beatles. John and Hannah had another fight, which caused Hannah to go back to George again, and John to come crying at my door while Ringo met a nice girl who he wants to marry and Paul... Well, I haven't heard of him since New Year's Eve.
David and me were sitting on the couch, watching TV while Johnny slept on my lap when the phone rang. I jumped a bit, which made Johnny get up from my lap to settle down on David's lap. "Traitor" I mumbled before picking up the phone. I sighed before saying hello and already rolled my eyes before I knew who was on the other end of the line.
"Hey Alex." Oh God, great. "Hello Hannah. What is it?" I heard Hannah sigh on the other end of the line. "I'm in a huge fight with John again." I interrupted her "I know. John was here a couple of days ago to tell me about it." Hannah went quiet for a few seconds. "Oh... Okay, then I don't have to tell you what the fight is about. But ehm.. I need your advice." I rolled my eyes again and waited for her to start talking again. She rambled on and on and on, just to ask me how she should tell John that she wasn't in love with him anymore and had been cheating on him with his mate. I sat up, and arched an eyebrow. "Well ehm, Hannah.. I think it's best if you just tell him without beating around the bush."
I could hear Hannah sigh. "I'm scared he'll throw another tantrum, Alex... Maybe.... You've known him longer than me, so maybe-" My eyes widened and I interrupted her again "There is no way that I am going to tell John you're breaking up with him."

I rang John's doorbell and looked around. It was already dark out and very cold. I rang the doorbell several times again, swearing under my breath. "Fucking hell John, if you don't open this goddamn door I'm going to shove that Rickenbacker right up your a-"
The door swung open, and there stood John, his tousled hair sticking up to different directions.
"Finally." I mumbled while stepping inside and pushing John back. I closed the door behind me and followed him to the living room, where he fell back on his couch again. "Did I wake you up?" I asked with a small smile on my face. I couldn't help it, really.
He nodded in reply. "Yeah, was just taking a nap." I sat down next to him on the couch and decided to just tell him what I came for. "Look John, Hannah called me and she told me she wasn-" Before I could finish my sentence, John did it for me. "She isn't in love with me anymore, is that it?" He looked at me, and raised an eyebrow. I just nodded, and bit my lip, not sure what his reaction would be.
He shrugged. I frowned. "Are you okay, John?" He got up and looked at me.
"Tea?"

My feet were on John's lap and we had gone from tea to wine. We had talked all evening about everything and nothing.
"'Ave ye heard anything from Paul then?" John asked out of the blue. I took a sip of my wine and rolled my eyes. John smirked, already sensing my annoyance. I put down the glass. "Nothing. not even a phone call." I shrugged.
John sighed and looked a bit uncomfortable. As if he wanted to tell me something. I chuckled. "If there's something you want to tell me, spit it out, son."
John looked at me "Even if it's about Paul?"
I shrugged in reply. "Sure."
John sat up straight. "He's been bringing that Rachel bird to rehearsals lately. Sitting on your spot, acting like she knows music. That bird can't tell apart a guitar from a harmonica." He said with a scoff.
I raised my eyebrows and shook my head with a bitter smile. John frowned. "What is it?" I took my feet off John's lap. I furiously started to tug at the lock of the bracelet Paul had given me for Christmas, until John grabbed my wrists.
"Calm down Alex! What's gotten into you?" I held up my wrist in front of his face. "He gave me this stupid bracelet with "I love you" engraved into it. Why does he get me something like this, kisses me on New Year's Eve, to just dump me again?" I already felt the tears burning in my eyes, and anger coursing through my veins as I started rambling.
"You know what, I shouldn't have put so much effort in this. Who even puts effort in a relationship with a tosser like Paul? I should've just ignored him and not have called him, y'know? I could've acted like I didn't know him when I bumped into all of you, then this wouldn't have happened and I wouldn-"
John kissed me to shut me up. Or maybe because he just wanted to kiss me. I don't know. All I know is that I kissed him back, and fell asleep on his couch with his arms wrapped around me and my head on his chest.
