The girl from Atlas

Ben was sitting by the docks as the sun slowly started to rise. Ben stretched his arms out as he let out a small sigh waiting for the ship to dock. As the salty breeze drifted past his nose and ears a warm feeling grew on the back of his neck. Quickly the hero of his universe jolted before looking behind him to see Professor Goodwitch holding out a hot cup for Ben to take. "Hot Chocolate, three sugars with Honey and caramel sauce." She sighed, this seemed more like a Ruby Rose kind of drink not one for a self-proclaimed 'hero'.
"Thanks Professor." Ben thanked as he took a sip of his drink, immediately recoiling from the heat before blowing on the drink.
"When we're outside of school just call me Glynda." Professor Goodwitch sighed as Ben nodded, taking another sip of his drink.
"That's gonna take some time getting used to, so when is the ferry supposed to arrive?" Ben asked as he got out a dossier on the student he was going to be looking after at her time at beacon.
"Miss Polendina shall be arriving in half an hour's time alongside the first batch of students arriving for the Vytal Festival." Glynda explained as Ben nodded.
"I'm guessing it'll take a bit to get her and her stuff off the ferry though huh?" Ben asked as Glynda shook her head.
"Professor Ironwood of Atlas Academy guaranteed us that Miss Polendina travelled light. He kept us on the dark about everything else not on that file." Glynda growled lightly.
"Not a big fan I presume?" Ben asked as Glynda shook her head.
"Men like him and Qrow Branwen are a hassle to deal with, Oum forbid you ever have to meet the later," Glynda sighed "though considering you're becoming fast friends with Miss Rose and Miss Xiao Long it is inevitable that you will be meeting him eventually." Glynda thought aloud.
"Hmm, is he like their teacher or something?" Ben asked curiously.
"No, he is their uncle, though the surname being different can be understandably misleading. Now I think about it Miss Rose did say Qrow taught her the night you and her met for the first time." Glynda recalled.
"The night I came to this universe, I still haven't found any leads on why I am here and whoever brought Azmuth here hasn't reappeared either. I'm slowly starting to think I am stuck here ha-ha." Ben joked lightly, it was in all honesty playing a lot on his mind if he was going to get home or not, but he didn't want to worry anyone about it.
"We will find a way to get you home soon Ben." Glynda promised as a small smile formed on his face.
"Thanks, Pro-" Ben was about to continue before he noticed a glare on his co-worker's face "I mean Glynda." I corrected myself.
"Anyways I should head back to the school and start grading some homework, good luck Ben." Glynda got up as she swiftly turned to walk away.
"Good luck, I know everyone hates homework, but it's got to be even worse for you having to look at all of it huh?" Ben asked as Glynda chuckled.
"Oh, you wouldn't believe me. After the Vytal Festival I will have to get you to join me so you can know the pain." Glynda chuckled as Ben laughed back.
"See ya." Ben casually replied as he turned to face the sea again, seeing a distant ship in the horizon.

As the ship from the distance docked Ben took out his scroll and entered a number that was on the Dossier he was given about Miss Polendina. The number was the Atlas student's number which he had to call once the ship docked and signal would reach her device. Ben dialled the number in, still not used to scrolls, and pressed the call button before placing the device near his ear. The call was swiftly picked up as a cheerful voice was on the other side of the phone "Is this Mr Ben Tennyson?" She asked, her chipper voice coating every word with what could only be described as excitement.
"Yes it is, I am out by the docks wearing a green jacket with the number 10 on it above a black shirt. I will be waiting by the exit of the ship." Ben professionally spoke as the voice on the other side nodded her head.
"Got it, I will see you in a bit!" She excitedly said as she hung up the phone before Ben could say anything else.
"This is going to be an experience." Ben sighed as the bridge towards the ship docked and the door opened to let some staff off first before passengers was allowed to leave.
As passengers slowly descended from the ship Ben laid his eyes on the signature orange hair of the girl who was on his document. She had freckles underneath her eyes and an awestruck look on her face as she looked around in amazement at what she was seeing. From what Ben had researched about Atlas, it was a cold wasteland and they required heaters to even get any heat to them in the first place so it was natural she would be in awe at the nature around Vale. Ben waved at her, which the transfer student noticed, as Miss Polendina waved back, quickly making her way to Ben without any further delays. "Salutations Ben Tennyson, Penny Polendina reporting for duty!" Penny smiled as she gave a salute and Ben tilted his head.
"Your...duty?" Ben asked, not being informed about any active mission.
"Oh yes right, sorry I am too used to how Atlas runs I forget this kingdom is laxer about stuff." Penny chuckled awkwardly as a smile formed on Ben.
"Well nice to meet you Penny, I'm Ben." Ben smiled as he held out his hand.
"The pleasure is all mine Mr Tennyson." Penny shook Bens's hand with a firm grasp which shocked Ben on how cold it was.
"No need to call me Mr Tennyson, I'm also a student so just call me Ben." Ben smiled as Penny smiled back.
"But they told me a teacher would be looking after me, was that incorrect?" Penny asked.
"Technically they're right...I'm a part time teacher technically, it is a long story. Anyways did you want to see the sights before heading to Beacon? We don't have to be there for another two hours, though I am not the best at directions cause I've barely been to Vale before." Ben admitted awkwardly.
"Hmm...sure!" Penny smiled as she started skipping down the streets, Ben following a couple steps behind.
