I fidgeted in my seat as I rose in the sky in the Helicarrier, Roman's plan is going through...the team who are undercover are currently roaming freely in the confides of Beacon Academy and here I was waiting in a helicarrier when they could be doing lord knows what? There must be something I can do here and now to let Ozpin know something is happening- I know, I'll text Glynda to prepare an urgent meeting tonight with Ironwood. Quickly I got out my scroll and started composing a text when a groggy voice from beside me spoke up "Can you stop fidgeting so loud? You're making my hangover worse." He spoke, his voice deep but with a slightly familiar accent as he unscrewed a flask of what I could smell was whiskey and took a swig.
"You sure you want to be drinking with a hangover?" I asked as he glared at me with his faded red eyes as his red cape moved slightly.
"Don't judge me kid, you got no right to," The man glared before looking at my scroll and noticing the picture attached to the contact "Of course, that explains it."
"That explains what?" I asked as the man chuckled.
"And demanding to know everything, just like her..." The man chuckled as he looked up to me and I looked back concerned.
"So, you're not going to explain anything?" I asked as he shook his head.
"No."
"Well that's helpful." I sighed as I started composing the text and sent it, the man looking over my shoulder however I quickly covered it.
"Hey, I was reading that!" The man called as I shook my head.
"No anymore you're not." I retorted quickly as the green on my wrist which was covering my scroll clearly caught the mans gaze.
"Weird bracelet." He commented, at least he wasn't paying attention to the Scroll so I slid it into my pocket and held out my Ultimatrix.
"Yep, it sure is weird..." I said, trying to distract him until the ship landed so I could get the hell away from him.
"That symbol, that giant monster that killed that Nevermore had the same symbol on it." The man noticed as I nodded.
"Yep, we're part of a club together." I rolled my eyes as he reached over and pressed the button which popped up the Ultimatrix's HUD and a hologram of Juryrigg appeared.
"Hey, watch where you're touching." I complained as I quickly whipped my Ultimatrix away, hitting it on the side of the plane as suddenly I felt my body transforming.
After a flash of green I had shrunk, got red skin and was now wearing a racers attire. I glared up to the man and decided, in my rational thinking...I wanted revenge...what's something I can do in order to get revenge...Oh I know the perfect plan...Suddenly I jumped at the man and snatched his flask with my tail in a surprise move. The man looked shocked at me as suddenly out of nowhere I had his flask and was dismantling it. "Juryrigg disassemble!" I laughed as I tore the flask apart.
"No no, don't disassemble!" The drunkard said in panic as the flask was now completely broken and the alcohol from inside the flask spilled onto the floor of the helicarrier.
"Serves you right!" I laughed maniacally as I quickly ran to the other side of the helicarrier.
"My...my flask...come back here you demon!" The man growled as he tried chasing me, however as he chased me he found himself falling to the ground as the ship started descending.
"Juryrigg Reassemble!" I called as I jumped behind the drunkard and reassembled his flask, though the alcohol wasn't in there as it had stained the floor by now. "Have it back!" I taunted before the ship landed and I quickly ran off the ship and turned back to normal.
Realising the man was probably going to be pissed off, I made my way deeper into Beacon as I saw Ruby and Weiss heading towards the dock where the ship I was previously on had left and been replaced by an Atlesian ship (or at least I assumed it was from what Weiss and Glynda told me). I wanted to follow them however I remembered the warning Kevin gave me. "How could I have forgotten?" I asked myself in anger as I headed straight towards Beacon Tower, where I saw Glynda and Ozpin walk out.
"Ben, I got your text. We're just heading to grab Ironwood." Glynda spoke seriously as I nodded.
"Okay, where is he?" I asked as Ozpin looked over towards the direction of the plaza where explosions were now going off.
"I believe you just got the answer your question, Benjamin." Ozpin chuckled as he and Glynda started watching, and I followed close behind.
As we approached we saw someone who looked a lot like an older Weiss...fighting that drunk man from before. "Not him." I groaned as Glynda let out a sigh.
"You've had the pleasure of meeting him then?" Glynda asked.
"On the ship he activated the Ultimatrix after I 'was fidgeting too loud' so I turned into Juryrigg and dismantled his flask." I explained as Glynda let out a proud chuckle whilst we saw Ironwood approach the drunk man and whisper to him something as tons of onlookers, Ruby and Weiss included, stood there in shock when Ozpin finally broke the various murmurs.
"Now now everyone," Ozpin spoke as he approached the scene with me and Glynda behind him a couple steps "There is a sanctioned fight happening just around the corner at the coliseum, that I can assure you has better seats...and popcorn." Ozpin chuckled at his joke as Glynda took another step forward.
"Break it up everyone! We will take care of this...mess..." Glynda groaned as she glared at both General Ironwood and the drunk man.
As the crowd started dispersing, General Ironwood looked over to his subordinate urging her to follow as he approached us. Meanwhile Penny, who was standing behind General Ironwood this whole time, looked at me awkwardly before following the general- not before looking back at Ruby and giving her a smile. Ruby waved back before flying towards the drunkard man with a grin on her face as she loudly spoke "Uncle Qrow! Hi." She grinned as she attached herself to the drunk mans arm as I looked to Glynda.
"So he is Ruby's uncle?" I asked as she sighed, turning around so she could start fixing the damage.
"Yep." She confirmed.
"The one you hate?"
"Yep." She repeated herself as Ozpin called out to Qrow, urging the man to approach us.
"Of course the kid would be here." Qrow groaned as he noticed I was here.
"I wouldn't do anything hasty if I were you, unless you wanna evoke Professor Goodwitch's wrath by destroying the courtyard again." I taunted as Glynda looked back at us and glared at both of us.
"Don't get me into even more hot water." Qrow groaned.
"How Ruby is related to you wilds me." I groaned back.
"We have a meeting to get on with Qrow, please let's not keep the general waiting." Ozpin urged as he leaded us towards Beacon tower and into the elevator I was so used to.
The moment the doors to Ozpin's office opened, sparks started to fly between Qrow and Ironwood who was getting backed up by the older version of Weiss. As I walked in I stood in my usual place, where I always do during meetings, and just listened as the sparks flew. "While I wouldn't condone his behaviour, retaliating like you did certainly didn't help the situation." Glynda spoke up as she crossed her arms and took her usual place.
"He was drunk!" The white haired woman complained.
"He's always drunk!" Glynda snapped back.
"Good news is he's sobering up." I tried to make light of the situation as the White haired woman looked at me.
"And who might you be?" She asked.
"Ben Tennyson, part time teacher, full time hero." I introduced myself as the woman's harsh gaze then turned to one of shock.
"Ben Tennyson? My sister mentioned you quite a bit." The woman spoke.
"Your sister?"
"My name is Winter Schnee, first daughter of the Schnee family...and older sister to Weiss Schnee." Winter introduced herself.
"Knew you looked like her." I spoke as Qrow spoke up.
"You're paying me back for the booze, kid." Qrow groaned after he tried to take a sip of his flask but realised it was empty.
"Qrow, why are you here?" Ozpin groaned.
"You've been out of contact for weeks, you can't just go dark like that in the field." Ironwood glared.
"I'm not one of your special operatives Jimmy." Qrow taunted.
"General." Winter corrected him bitterly.
"Whatever, you sent me to get intel on our enemy...and I'm telling you our enemy is here." Qrow said seriously.
"We know." Ironwood stated as he crossed his arms and leant against Ozpins desk.
"Oh, you know? Well thank goodness I'm out there risking my life to keep you all informed!" Qrow complained quickly.
"Qrow-" Ironwood went to speak but the drunkard cut him off.
"Communication's a two way street pal," Qrow growled as he whipped out his scroll "You see this? This is the send button." Qrow glared as he pointed at a send button.
"They had reason to assume you'd been compromised." Winter spoke up.
"And I have reason to assume you don't need to be here- or that kid over there either." Qrow turned his head to me and glared at me.
"Schnee, we will discuss this incident later back on the ship..." Ironwood sighed, understanding what Qrow was getting at.
"But sir-" Winter went to complain but Ironwood spoke back up.
"Winter...leave." Ironwood sighed as Winter saluted Ironwood and Ozpin before entering the elevator and beginning her descent down the tower.
"Now for you to get rid of your soldier, Oz." Qrow bluntly put it.
"He knows about Salem Qrow, he will be staying to hear this." Ozpin spoke as Qrow looked at me but then back to Ozpin.
"Whatever...look your infiltrator isn't just another pawn...but the one who's responsible for Amber and her current condition." Qrow spoke.
"Who is Amber?" I asked.
"Seriously, you shouldn't be here if you don't understand everything." Qrow glared.
"Well I know stuff you don't, two of the people who are infiltrating under the guise of a team is a woman with Green hair and a man with silver." I spoke.
"Well let me explain something to you to help you understand...despite what the world may think, the people in this room aren't just teachers or generals or headmasters...the people in this room- the people who run the other academy's, we're the ones who keep the world save from the evils no one even knows about." Qrow reiterated.
"Yeah, I know...Salem." I spoke as Qrow shook his head.
"You only know the surface level, it's why we always work in the shadows...why we always meet behind closed doors," suddenly Qrow did a 180 and started walking towards Ironwood "So you tell me James, when you brought your army to vale did you think you were being discreet, or did you just not give a damn." Qrow glared.
"Discreet wasn't working..." Ironwood sighed as he placed his scroll down on Ozpins desk and a hologram of Beacon and Vale appeared "I'm here because this is what's necessary." The general explained.
"Both you and Ben are here because Ozpin wanted you here, he made you a part of this inner circle and opened your eyes to the real fight that's in front of us." Qrow retaliated, bringing me into this.
"And I am grateful-"
"Well you have a real funny way of showing it." Qrow responded quickly, as to cut Ironwood off.
"The people of Vale needed someone to protect them, someone who would act, when they look to the sky and see my fleet- they feel safe...and our enemies will feel our strength." Ironwood spoke calmly as Qrow started laughing at Ironwood.
"You think they're scared of your little ships? I've been out there and have seen the things she has made and let me tell you they ARE fear."
"And fear will bring the Grimm," Ozpin finally spoke up as he got up off his chair "A guardian is a symbol of comfort, an army is a symbol of conflict," Oz spoke calmly "There's an energy in the air now, a question in the back of everyone's minds...if this is the size of our defences, then what is it we're expecting to fight?" Ozpin asked.
"It definitely didn't help with the size of the Nevermore two weeks ago." I spoke up.
"No it certainly did not Ben." Ozpin responded as we all looked to Ironwood.
"So then, what would you suggest we do?" Ironwood asked as he walked over and took his scroll back, placing it in his pocket.
"I suggest we find our other guardian," Ozpin said vaguely as he looked to me "we've already found one."
