Warnings: blood, violence, person being a simp
Okay, so maybe traveling at night in the rain was a bad idea, but hey, at least they hadn't run into anything that wanted to fight them yet!
. . .
The person stopped, regretting what they had just done, "I just jinxed myself didn't I?"
Not even a moment later, an arrow lodged itself into their leg and burning pain shot (lol) up their leg
The person dumbly stared at the wound, "Well that's not ideal"
Their legs gave out beneath them, sending them tumbling to the ground as a treasure hoarder approached them, another arrow on the string of his bow, a wicked smirk etched onto his face.
"Can I help you?" They asked the hunter weakly, hoping that this wouldn't end in a lame death-by-arrow-through-the-eye situation.
The hunter got nearer before he answered, "it seems you have a lot of goods on you, and you know what they say... sharing is caring."
The person blinked at the hunter before looking down at their impaled leg,
"Can I keep this then? Sharing is caring right?"The treasure hunter stopped in confusion, only to fall to his knees when the now armed person threw a dagger at his own leg.
"See? Now we match!" The person grinned in triumph, painfully standing and walking over to the hunter who had dropped his bow in pain and was whimpering as he cradled his own injury.
They easily overpowered the man and yanked the now bloody knife out of his thigh, earning a scream of agony from the man as he flailed under their boot, trying to get away.
"Hmm? So you don't want to fight...? pity," They dug the knife in the man's shoulder, twisting it sharply, "I don't think you've earned that right, don't you think? Perhaps you'll think twice before messing with an innocent-"they dug the knife deeper into his skin-"traveler who could be the last person you'll ever see in your miserable life."
Yanking the knife out of the now sobbing man who was pleading for mercy, they wiped the blood off on their sleeve before putting it back into its sheath.
"You have a little bit of time till you bleed out, good luck!" They walked away, limping due to the arrow stuck in their leg that was throbbing horribly, but they refused to show any weakness in front of such a lowly man, however much it hurt.
. . .
When the man was out of sight, they slumped down against a tree, making sure not to jar the point any deeper than it already was, and inspected the wound.
Thankfully, it hadn't hit any major arteries, however, it was fairly deep in their leg and hurt like a-
"What are you doing here?" They found a polearm in front of their neck, threatening to make quick work of them if they didn't answer the question in a way the person wanted.
Looking at the figure in front of them, they noticed quickly that they were a powerful being, simply from the way they held themselves. Another feature that caught their eye was the yaksha mask that they donned. They had dark green/blue hair, and pale skin, as well as what looked to be a green tattoo on their right arm. The rest of the outfit was that of a fighter, useful for mobility as the job called for.
The person did not like the lack of response from them and pushed the polearm closer to their neck, almost grazing it now- "I'll ask one more time."
