"Ya, nice job girls." Al said running past us. "Thanks Al!" I yell to him. Then someone else from behind us. "Hey Tris, Roxy!" We turn around to see its Uriah (A dauntless-born initiate) "Hey Uriah!" Tris said as we waited for him to catch up with us. "Come with us." He said as he finally caught up. "Where you going?" He looked back as he walked a little ahead. "Shortcut back. A little initiation ritual, Dauntless style." I looked at Tris for a second. She looked at me we gave eachother the same head tilt. "Why the heck not." Uriah smiled at us, we followed him to the top of a really tall building. "Wow." Tris said when we walked onto the rooftop. "Wow is right." The view was amazing you had a clear view of the city and could see a lot of the stars. "All right, let's do this!" One guy shouted. We watched a girl get hooked into a harness and was soon sent flying down the zipline and out of sight. A few people went before me but soon enough it was my time. I slowly walked up to the edge and let them hook me up. "Go Roxy!" I heard Tris yell from behind me. I looked back and gave her a smile. Once I was hooked in I took a deep breath. "You ready?" One of the guys who hooked me in asked. "Yeah...I am." Even though I was freaking out a little. "Alright well when you get towards the bottom don't forget to pull the brake." I nod and look behind me one more time. "Harness is good. Ready? Go!" They pushed me off and it felt like I was flying the air rushing past me. It almost felt like running in the Amity fields. I had been holding onto my harness but I lifted my arms out to feel the air rush through my hair and by my hands. I felt like I could spend eternity up there. but soon enough I was headed towards the bottom. "Pull the brake!" One person called out. "Pull the brake!" It took my a second to process what the said because the calmness of the ziplining made me zone out a bit. I quickly reached behind me and pulled the brake as hard as I could. I eventually came to a stop but only about a centimeter from the wall in front of me. Everyone started to cheer. After a good five minutes Tris finally came down.
We started to head back Tris soon left to go find Christina leaving me to walk alone. But on my way back I ran into Four. "Roxy!" I looked at him. "Hey Four." He walked towards me. "Hey. congratulations." I smiled. "Thanks." We soon walked into the pit it was filled with other members and initiates. "You know, I wanted to say that you were really good tonight. You were brave." I don't know what was going on with Four a few days ago he was this cold 'don't talk to me' kind of guy and now he's giving me complements. "Thanks." A few of the other initiates then called for me. "Anyway, you should get back to your friends." This was a kind of akward situation but also kind of nice. "Alight well I guess I'll see you around." I told him and walked to my friends. The next day we were all gathered in the training area waiting for the roster. After a good five minutes it showed up I looked for my name, I made third. I then looked to see were everyone else was. "Tris, you made it!" Al said from behind me. "I made it!" She had the biggest smile on her face. "I knew you could do it Tris." I said giving her a hug. We trained for the rest of the day and Eric told us we had a reward tomorrow.
But little did we know the 'reward' was in reality moving have bags from one truck to another. "So we pass the first stage of training, and this is our reward." I mean we are in Dauntless so it kind of makes sence. "Toss it up!" One guy yelled at us. We kept passing the bags until something caught my eye. Tris kept looking around and then a pile of bags in the distince. She then walked over to the bags and honestly my curiosity got the best of me and so I followed. She walked around some crates and there stood a woman in Abnegation clothes. "Mom?" Tris said I had hid behind the crates so she wouldn't see me. "Oh, my girl!" They hugged each other. "Mom, what are you doing here?" That's a good question. "I knew they'd assign you here...sooner or later. Look at you! God, you're so strong and beautiful." I realized Tris was actually talking to her mom and that I probably shouldn't be listening in on this but this next part caught my attenchen. "I have to ask you something. You weren't sick the day you took your aptitue test, were you?" What was this I wondered. "What were your test results? Honey, it's okay. You can tell me." Is Tris about to say what I think she is? "They were... They were inconclusive." WHAT?! TRIS IS DIVERGENT?! I couldn't belive it I wasn't the only divergent. I want to listen more but I head back to the others just so no one gets suspicious.
