Chapter 2: Teaching Jake Sully

Lana's POV:

I awoke the next morning and got ready to go get Jake. I walked to the Sully's Mauri and walked in to see them eating breakfast. The smallest was the first to realize I was there.

"Hi!" She said running up to me

"Your Lana right?" I smiled and bent down to her

"Yes I am sweetie. What is your name?"

"My name is Tuktirey but I prefer Tuk!" I smiled at her picking her up and putting her on my hip.

"Well that is a beautiful name Tuk. It's almost as pretty as you" I said, tickling her sides.

Tuk smiled and giggled, wrapping her arms around my neck as I steadied her. I giggled at her innocence but then stopped when I remembered where I was. I looked up to see the other Sully's looking at me with different expressions.

The other daughter looked happy that her sister was smiling, her younger brother looked at me hopefully, but for what? The oldest brother looked at me thankfully. And Jake... he was looking at me with awe and an emotion that I couldn't figure out. I cleared my throat and spoke.

"We should get going Jake, training will start soon" I told Jake as he beamed when I said his name.

I put tuk down, ruffled her hair and spoke.

"You have fun in the water tuk. I believe my sister Tsyeria will be teaching you guys how to ride the ilu's. I'm sure you'll love them." I told her as she hugged my legs.

"I can't wait! See you later Lana" Tuk yelled as she ran out towards the water. Her siblings followed her.

Jake stood and walked in-front of me.

"Thank you... for being nice to tuk. She's the most sensitive in our family."

"Well I will not mistreat your children because of my hate of your idiocy." I told him as he blushed and looked down.

"Come, we must train"

I told him as I grabbed his hand dragging him to the area where Tonowari was. While walking I could see him looking at our linked hand, a deep purple blush covering his cheeks. Cute I thought- wait what? No, he is not cute I thought, shaking my head. We reached where my father was and I greeted him.

"I see you father"

"I see you daughter"

"I am glad you guys are here. Lana, you will be teaching Jake as you are the next best as training, and I will teach the other Navi's of our clan."

I looked at him with shock to see a playful look in his eye despite his calm face. I soon realized that he saw Jake's staring and wanted us to get closer in the possibility I will choose him as my mate. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and spoke.

"Jake follow me" I spoke as I led him to the water.

I could see him staring at me as we walked and went into the water. I made calling noises to my Tursak Aimee and another Tursak. They both came out of the water and I glanced at Jake to see him still staring at me so I commanded the Tursak's to splash Jake in his face. They did so and he stopped staring at me and scowled at the Tursaks.

I stifled a laugh and looked at him only to see him staring at me again. I decided to look over his form. He was muscular and seemed strong along with a protective and powerful aura around him. I looked at him again to see him smirking at me. I glared and turned to the Tursaks.

"These are Tursak's. Tursak's are similar to your ikran. They are strong and only bond with one rider but they can swim in the water. I told Jake as I pet my Tursak who was nuzzling into my hand.

"What is his name?" Jake asked me as the Tursak screeched offended

I laughed as Jake spoke again.

"What's so funny?" He asked confused

"Well he is actually a she and you have offended her so taming her might be more difficult"

Jake blushed and looked down, rubbing his neck, looking shy.

"Oh. Well what is HER name?"

"His name is Rana, it means strong". (Don't know if that's true pls go with it)

"She is strong, loyal, and stubborn... Much like you in that way". Jake smiled at me, looking ecstatic

"You really think I'm strong?"

I huffed and rolled my eyes

"Yes, but stop smiling. I also called you stubborn." I told him as he tried to stop smiling

"Now Mount the Tursak" I told him, pointing towards the mad Tursak, still upset at being a male by Jake. He struggled to get on, as Rana was stubborn, but eventually did it steadying himself.

"Good, now make the bond but you must be calm, if you're anxious she will feel it and you will be unable to stay on."

He connected his queue with the Tursak's and it moved for a minute before it relaxed.

"Now gently command it to move forward and hold on tight". He closed his eyes and he and the Tursak dived underwater.

He did well breathing and was controlling the Tursak until he started to go faster. After a few seconds he fell off, swimming upward to the surface to where I was laughing.

"Oh ha ha" He said with a sour expression

"Do not be angry. You did well for your first time. You just have to remember to stay calm and control her" I told him as he huffed, clearly frustrated

I looked at him, thinking of a way I could explain it to him so his skxawng brain could understand.

"Think of it as your ikran. As I told you they are similar except Tursak's can swim. Feel and do what you would on your ikran when riding it."

I told him as he looked at me for a few seconds then nodded. He mounted the Tursak again and dove underwater. Once again he did well but as his Tursak got faster he got a determined look on his face and he soon gained control, gliding under the water and eventually surfacing.

"That was good! Keep practicing like that so you don't forget how to control and ride it." I told him smiling

He looked at me, beaming at my complement. He disconnected his queue, both of us walking to the shore. I looked to where my father was to see him kissing my mother. I gagged and looked at Jake to see him with a sad look on his face.

"What is wrong Jake?" I asked as he sighed and spoke

"Nothing, just watching them reminds me of my times with Neytiri. She was my mate but died when giving birth to tuk."

I now felt bad for bringing it up.

"I'm sorry"

"Don't be. Although I miss her I wouldn't trade anything for tuk." I looked at him with a look of slight awe, he had a strong mind and strong heart.

"You have a strong heart and strong mind Jake." I told him smiling

He looked at me after I said that with the same emotion in his eyes. I felt myself blush as I looked to the ground. Despite wanting to stay and talk with him about his past I needed to go home to my family.

"Well, you have done well today Jake. You can now hunt with my father for fish on hunting days." I told him as I turned and walked away, going to my family's Mauri.
