So, I might edit this story a little later on, because it was at first called "Dancing with Your Ghost", but like- I might end up adding more later on. Just a warning or smthg Ig

(1st POV)

My best friend was Touya Todoroki. We used to be able to play whenever we wanted. We had fun together. I enjoyed his company as much as he enjoyed mine. We played almost everyday until...

He got his quirk... I started seeing him less... And whenever I did see him, his scars just seemed to be... Almost, consuming him or something. I was young. We both were... But I wasn't dumb. I knew that something wasn't right... Whenever I tried to talk to him, he would shut the conversation down there. And if I brought it up a second time, he would lose his temper and get upset... But I think he was really getting upset because he didn't want me getting involved with what HE was involved with...

Soon enough, our daily playdates turned into weeks. Then weeks, into months. And finally, months into years... Until the last time I saw him. I still remember what he said too... What the last thing he did before I never saw him again...

"Y/N... I love you... You know that right? ... C'mon, don't ignore me... I do love you. I really do. I just... Want you to stay safe. And... I don't want you to ever forget me."
"I don't even know what I'll remember about you. We used to play and be able to talk to each other about... Everything. We used to know everything about each other. And now I... I know nothing. Do you know what I'll remember? Nothing. I already have a hard enough time remembering what we played as children. What we even used to talk about. Because apparently, all that meant to you? Was nothing-"

And then I remember him cutting off the rest of that conversation by kissing me. We let our emotions control us for a few moments longer before our breath told us to part.

"Then if you can't remember anything else, remember that. And remember that I love you, and all those days we spent together, meant everything."

...

And then he left. I still don't know where he is to this day... But I didn't believe his father when he told me Touya was dead. I cried for the first year, but then... It started to seem like... Maybe it wasn't an accident... Maybe he meant for this to happen. And maybe he also wanted to keep me safe... Like he said...

Every year on his birthday, I go to the field we used to play in and just stay there, bathing in the moonlight and watching the dark night clouds float by.
"... Touya... Wherever you are, I hope you're happy."

"Y/N! You're falling asleep again, and on YOUR shift! You need to get home and sleep. And I mean it! No working at home other than resting!"
"{At least my boss cares-} Alright miss, thank you..!"

While I headed it to my car through the alley, a man with a dark mask pulled me to the side and jerked his knife out, aiming it at me.
"Give me your money! Now!!"
Shaking, I quickly tossed my wallet at him and started to try and leave, but he stopped me from leaving.
"Oh no, not so fast. I know you've got more! Now hand it all over!!"
As I handed the man my entire purse, I saw a mystery figure loom over behind the thief. And then... It all went so fast. The man was quickly pulled away and then the whole alley was suddenly lit up with blue flames that felt almost more hot than regular fire!

After the blue fire fiasco cooled down, the mystery man handed me my bag. He has his hood on and the alley was dark again, but I caught a glimpse of his eyes. And they held a look that seemed familiar. A peaceful, loving look. The man said nothing, but started to walk away.
As he walked away, I could almost hear him whisper something.

"I just want you to be safe."

"... Touya?"

He said nothing, but I watched him stop, and he slightly looked back at me, allowing me to catch one final look at his eyes. And it seemed... It seemed like once I blinked, he was gone.

But I made sure to tell him my appreciation, whether he was a ghost or not. I didn't care if this was merely my imagination or reality. All I knew, is that it was him.

...

"Thank you, Touya."
