>Yvonne's POV<

I sit in the wooden tub and lean back. The lightbulb above me flickers; making the shed light and dark multiple times...giving me a headache. I hear the door open, and I turn to my right to see Peter; wearing that dumb mask again. I roll my eyes and cross my arms before sending him an icy glare "I see you've handled living in the shed well." He says. I grip the wood with my hands angrily. "Look, this shed has a heating system, a tub, and you've been getting food. You should be more grateful, Darling." He says "Grateful? Grateful?!" I shout before standing up, causing his blue eyes to widen. "Why would I be grateful? You've kidnapped me, you're forcing me to get rid of our baby, you've hired a bunch of people who I don't even know! A bunch of southern hicks I might add! I have no idea where I am, my Mom doesn't care where I'm at, and you've become something I never saw in you before ever! And you expect me to be grateful?! Screw you, Peter! Let me go home!" I exclaim. Peter now storms up to me, and in a swift move, grips the back of my head with his right hand "I am trying to find our kid a good home with a good family. Tonya wasn't going to cut it, so she had to go. Do you know why she had to go, Darling?" He asks with a chuckle. I glare at him "Because you're clinically insane? You killed her!" I exclaim "You. You were trying to get into her head, so you killed her. I can't let you leave me, Yvonne. I love you too much. That's why I want a do-over. We can be happy." He says "Get away from me. What's happened to you? And will you take off that stupid mask?!" I shout. He shoves me back down to the tub and takes off his mask; glaring down at me. He growls and walks out of the shed and slams the door. My heart pounds before hot tears run down my face. Is anyone coming for me?

40 days (1 month, 5 weeks) and 8 hours

>Sarah's POV<

Still no sign of Yvonne whatsoever. Peter is so different, and nobody is able to talk to him. Daniel and I chat occasionally, and I have sent my scores out. It's currently 3:45 in the afternoon. After the search party I got Peter to take us to Lucy's apartment. He barely talks anymore, so it wasn't too much of a fight. Lucy walks outside to wait for me, and I hop out "It's been five weeks." She says as I nod and shut the door "I know. Maybe we should check more counties." I say. I hear the van door shut, and I turn back to see Peter walk up and look at us. Lucy looks at him uncomfortably as I walk to her. "Let's go inside." I whisper to her and we walk. Peter walks behind us and heads inside. I see Don talking on the phone and pacing back and forth "We've gotta think about other counties. Let's try Salt Lake City." Lucy says "It's a long drive. But it's a good idea." I reply as we head to her apartment. "How are you and TK?" I ask "We're doing great. They've told me that I can stay home right now so we can look for Yvonne, plus they've got a promotion to be Assistant Manager." She says "Hey, that's exciting! Maybe we can go to Salt Lake City next week." I suggest. Lucy nods before grinning "How are things with you?" She asks "Oh, well, I've been busy tending to Peter, and doing this search party. I also am trying to do something really big for myself." I say with a light blush "Oh?" "I don't want to hurt my luck, so I'm not saying anything." I reply "Okay, now I have to know what it is." Lucy says "Ha ha, maybe not yet. I'm still waiting to see. I'll put it that way." I say. Lucy opens her door "I'm guessing that Peter is still not talking?" She asks. I sigh "Barely. He maybe says three words and that's it. He doesn't shower or tend to Rats, and he just drinks and smokes all day long." I say sadly. Lucy nods "I'm sorry. So...do you think he knows?" She asks "I really wish I knew. He won't say anything to anybody." I reply. She looks at me sympathetically before glancing to the left "Detective?" She asks. I turn around to see Roy approaching us "I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I just thought that I would run it by you. There's been a small break." He says. We both look at him "What is it?" I ask. Roy puts his hands in his pockets "On the stretch of road leading to the station, there was a phone on the right shoulder. It was a gray burner phone that looked perfectly fine. We had I.T. look into it. It's Yvonne's phone." He says "Yeah, Peter gave her a burner phone after destroying her old one because he fought with me." I say "Why would it be on that road, Detective?" Lucy asks "My guess would be that she was coming to us, or that she was trying to ditch town. The fact that the phone looked perfect could indicate that it was accidentally dropped, rather than thrown. Someone took Yvonne." He says. My eyes widen "Who would have taken her?" I ask as Lucy puts her arms around me "Well, it's hard to say. Most of the time, it is someone they know. Your brother told me you were up here, he seemed pretty upset." Roy says "I don't care. I'm more worried about her than he is." I snap. Roy shrugs and nods "While that may be true. Until I get one-on-one with him, it'll be difficult. I just want you to be careful around him, Sarah." He says "Oh, I am. I've handled Peter before. So, I have to ask, how did you know to find me here?" I ask with an arched brow. Roy blushes slightly "Oh! I, I didn't. I was dropping Arnie off with Dad, he sometimes babysits him when I'm on duty. I saw Peter's van, and just assumed that you'd be here as well." He says as I nod "I gotcha. Thank you for telling us, Roy. Lucy and I were planning a trip to Salt Lake City, just to see if she's there." I say "While it may be a possibility, I don't think she's here in Utah. Also, I was going to tell you, before I forget, Arnie hasn't stopped asking about you. He just calls you 'garl' right now. You really left an impression on him that one night." He says as I smile "He left one on me too. He's a sweetheart." I say. Roy nods before looking at his watch on his left wrist "I hate cutting this short, but I need to get back on patrol. You both have fun." "Oh, we will." Lucy says coyly. Roy smirks at me and walks away. Lucy suddenly shoves me into her apartment and shuts the door behind her "Lucy?" I ask "Whose Arnie?" She asks "Oh, it's his son." I say "Oh my gosh, you know the kid's name. And you both are on a first name basis." She says before gasping "Lucy, it's nothing." I say "What were you doing with the Detective one night, hmm?" She asks with a smirk "Oh, I just fell asleep in his squad car and he took me to his home." I reply. Lucy gasps again before jogging, jumping, and laying on her back on her couch "Sarah, you could have just told me! I would have given you pointers!" She exclaims "What are you talking about?" I ask "That you and Mr. Sexy Detective got a thing going. I can go get you some condoms or-" "Lucy!" I exclaim with a dark blush "It's extremely obvious. I could sense the tension so well. I mean, you gotta relieve stress somehow." She says with a shrug "No, no, no. It's nothing like that, Lucy." I say embarrassingly "Right, tell that to your blush. I never saw you to be into the cop type, but, hey, nothing wrong with dominance." She says with a laugh. "There might be some more he can do with handcuffs besides arrest, you know." She says "Lucy, no. It's nothing like that. That's not even what I'm waiting on." I snap. Lucy rolls her eyes and stands up "Okay, okay. But, I will admit. You and that Detective share chemistry." She says with a wink. I roll my eyes "Well, I need to get back to the apartment, with Peter. I am going to try and see if he'll talk tonight." I say. Lucy nods before her eyes widen "Wait, his son is down there...should we check on him with Peter?" She asks "Why? Don is down there." I say "I don't know, maybe seeing the kid will give him guilt or something." Lucy says as I nod "I see. Okay, let's go." I say. We get to the lobby, and I see Arnie sitting on Don's lap and watching the computer as Don is on the phone. Arnie is wearing a black baseball cap, a large gray t-shirt, black shorts, and black sneakers. I walk to the entrance "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!! Oh my gosssshhhh, what a cutie~" Lucy coos. Don smiles at her as Arnie glances at her; giving a small smile. "My goodness, you are such a little doll. Look just like your Daddy too." She says before leaning back to me. "And a little bit like his StepMommy." She whispers "Okay, yes, Arnie is very cute. Hi, Arnie!" I exclaim quietly. He smiles really big at me before sliding off of Don's lap. Don tries to grab him, but he slides under the desk and runs to me "Garl! Garl! Garl!" He chirps excitedly making me giggle "You know. My name is actually Sarah, like your name is Arnie." I say before kneeling to meet his eye level. He suddenly puts his hands on my cheeks "Were you be?" He asks "I've been at my home. I see you're spending the day with your grandfather." I say. He jumps up and down "Pappy pway wit me." He says before putting his arms around my neck. "Peekup, peekup!" He exclaims "Huh?" I ask "He wants you to pick him up." I look up at Don as he moves his hand from the speaker of the phone to talk again. I awkwardly grab Arnie by his waist and pull him up; he wraps his little legs around me and cuddles his head under my neck. Lucy purses her lip "Look at you, you're a natural. My heart can't take all this cuteness." She says as I giggle nervously. Suddenly Peter walks in; smelling heavily of cigarette smoke. Arnie looks at him and waves his left hand "What were you doing?" Lucy asks. Peter glares at her before looking at Arnie "Uhm...this is Arnie, the Detective's son. Also, Don's grandson." I say. I see a change in his eyes before he balls his fists "Let's go." He says darkly. I give him an odd look before looking at Arnie "Well, Arnie, I gotta get going. I'll see you later, handsome." I say as I set him down gently. Arnie watches me leave with a sad look on his face as Lucy kneels down to talk to him in a babyish tone. I walk out with Peter as he heads to the van. "What was that all about?" I ask. He gets in and slams the driver door. "Peter?!" I shout before rolling my eyes and getting in. Peter drives angrily on the way to his apartment; nothing but silence the whole ride. We get to the apartment and head inside, and I stay behind him to see what's up. Peter storms to his room and slams the door shut as I walk in. "Is everything okay?" I ask...silence. I roll my eyes and begin to think. Smiling softly, I pull out my phone "Hey, it's Sarah. I just wanted to tell you that I got to see Arnie, and he even wanted me to pick him up. He called me Garl lol." I text Roy. I go to sit down on the couch and feel sadness...Yvonne is nowhere right now, and I am out here, trying to better myself...should I even be doing that?...9 at night comes. I must have taken a small nap for a couple of hours. I look to my right to see four boxes of cigarettes; along with a few empty beer bottles on the floor. I sit up and head to the kitchen, open the fridge, only to find more bottles and even cans. My mind begins racing...I've done this before, and I can do it again. I grab the boxes of cigarettes off the coffee table and his studio desk to throw them away in the trash. I grab any lighter I can find and do the same thing. I start grabbing the beer bottles and cans, dumping them down the sink, and throwing it all away. I didn't quit until every bit of cigarette and every drop of alcohol was gone. I throw the garbage bag down to the dumpster below and start cleaning, and after cleaning I fed Rats. I shut her lid and suddenly hear the fridge door open "Where are they?" Peter asks angrily. I turn and head to the kitchen to find Peter digging through the fridge "They're gone, Peter." I say triumphantly. His head snaps back at me "What do you mean, gone?" He asks angrily. I cross my arms "I'm not going to watch you become an alcoholic all over again, so I threw it all away." I say "HOW COULD YOU?!?!" He screams at me before running all over his apartment "Don't bother looking. I threw away every stash too. Also, your cigarettes are gone as well. And I bet the reason you bought in bulk is because you're broke, huh?" I ask. Peter runs back into the kitchen and glares at me "You...you're dead." He hisses "I'd rather be dead than watch you become Peter King Jr., and I know Yvonne would too." I say. Peter growls "Don't, ever, compare me to him!" He exclaims "Why? Because you're on his way, Pete. I won't let you do it to yourself again." I say "I'm just going to get more. You're really stupid if you think this has changed anything." He says "Where is she, Peter? Where is your pregnant wife?" I ask "Stop talking about her!! Just stop!!" He shouts before putting his hands to his head "You can't hide forever, Peter. Do you really want to be like Ma and Pop? Peter King Jr.?" I ask. Peter glares at me evilly before taking his keys and running out of the apartment. I shake my head and feel hot tears burn down my cheeks.
