You swiftly arose from the blood red sheets of you and your husband's king sized mattress, not even rubbing your eyes as you'd awoken suddenly yet slowly from your slumber.
Glancing over at your husband, you allow a soft grin to appear on your face at the sight of one of his muscular arms draped across the top of his head while the other cups his exposed stomach.
You reach your fingers up, fiddling with his thick fingers gently.
Then you steadied to your feet, making your way over to the great, black oak vanity that stood perched in your walk in closet. You rummaged through the top drawer, unveiling a dark rustic old key.
Furthermore, you made your way back into your shared bedroom glancing at your husband once again, who was now turned on his stomach exposing his plump back muscles, before finding your way downstairs to your favorite place in the whole castle.
"Princess?" You heard a low pitched Scottish woman's voice. You turned around, you recognized it as the head of your court, Virginia. Everyone, including the King himself, called her Ginny.
"Oh..sorry to bother, Ginny...I couldn't sleep.." you tremor. She exhales, "Can I get you anything, your highness?" Yes, Your highness.
You and Drew were the Prince and Princess of Ayr. Shortly after you two snuck away and married, he asked you to be his Princess - and soon to be Queen. You said yes of course, and adjusting to the Royal lifestyle has been a great ease thanks to him.
"No, I'm just going to step out for a little? If my husband wakes up, tell him I'm out here." You reply, pointing a slender finger toward the tall, black double doors.
Ginny nodded, taking her place back where she sat steaming dresses.
Spinning on your heels you quickly turned the rustic key, the scent of Scarlatta Red Roses wiggling its way into your nostrils. Your muscles relaxed at the scent. Drew had this rose garden built for you as a reminder of home.
It reminded you of your mother's rose garden. The only difference was that she had roses of the color peach to the color pink to the color white. Mother had roses of every kind, but your favorite were always the Scarlatta that she'd so rarely be able to get her hands on.
They were expensive, but she saved up and surprised you with them every once in a while. "Come here little rose.." she used to say, holding an arm behind her back. You'd creep your way toward her, deeply anticipating your surprise.
She'd make you close your eyes, and once they were shut tight she settled the Scarlattas under your nostrils. You'd jump in excitement each time. No matter how old you were, they never got old.
Your heart clenched at the scent that brought back the deepest of memories from the backyard of your childhood home in the countryside. Oh how you missed your mother.
You let your thoughts take over as you analyzed every little detail about the red flower. Your thoughts suddenly interrupted by a deep raspy voice.
"My love..?"
That could only be one person as only the Prince and Princess were allowed in the Rose Garden past midnight. It was your husband.
He swiftly crept up behind you, bringing a thick arm up to snake around your waist, the other cupping your face from behind. He pressed his lips on the top of your jaw, provoking you to close your eyes in ecstasy.
"Andrew."
"Missing home?" He questioned. He already knew the answer to your question. Andrew knew you better than anyone, he knew that once you stepped out into the garden past ten o'clock, you were either stressed or homesick.
You didn't want to answer him. You didn't want him to feel like you didn't like being with him in Scotland. You loved it here, but sometimes a little cornpone would do the trick too.
He pressed yet another Kiss to your neck, this time landing directly on your sweet spot causing you to gasp in his arms.
"I know you are. Let's go back soon sometime, yeah?" He whispered against your neck. Your eyes popped open at his proposal. Turning around in his arms, you draped your arms over his broad shoulders and looked up at him with gleaming eyes.
"Really?" You gasped. Offering you a fond smile, your husband nodded. "Alls ya had to do was ask, Love. I would've taken you back home a long time ago."
Your heart melted at that. You stood up on your tippy toes, pressing a kiss to his lips which he happily accepted.
Next thing you know, you're swept off your feet being carried back into the echoing walls of your shared castle. "Eeek!" You shriek.
Andrew stops at the door, peering into your eyes with his cadet blue orbs. "Come back to bed?"
You nod. "Yes, My Prince."
