"ahhhh!!" The little curly haired girl squealed as she bounced around the house in attempt to escape her towel-bearing father. You and Cody were getting the girls ready for bed, or trying to at least, and Liberty just would not cooperate with him for the world.
"Liberty, SLOW DOWN!" The wrestler exclaimed, swiftly hopping over the foot rest and trailing upstairs behind the little girl, leaving you and your other little girl in a fit of giggles.
"Libby's mean to daddy, mommy!" Your little girl exclaimed, between her little high pitched laugh. You chuckled at her cuteness, continuing to braid her curly hair.
"I know, baby."
Once you were done, your daughter let you wrap her hair up before grabbing hold to two of your fingers, leading you upstairs into her and her sister's shared bedroom. You and Lyric burst out again at the sight of Liberty sitting calmly on her father's lap, Three Little Pigs book in hand.
Cody chuckled along with you, placing a kiss on Liberty's forehead as she tucked herself into her pink sheets, you doing the same for Lyric as she bundled herself into her lavender comforter. Turning off the light, Cody took his place in the hot pink plush chair in the corner of the room that sat next to the ivory bookshelf full of stories from different countries and states.
You took a spot on your husband's lap as he opened the book, your twin girls' blue eyes resting themselves upon your conjoined figures.
"Ah, the Three Little Pigs.." He said in an exaggerated British accent. Both you and the girls giggled at his silliness, tuning in as he told the story skillfully.
Time went on as your husband read amusingly to his baby girls, and the three of you began to feel yourselves dozing off.
"And he HUFFED AND PUFFED AND BLEW THE HOUSE DOWN!" Cody exclaimed loudly, waking not only you but your two girls back up. They had began dozing off again as his stories trailed on, while you looked at him in annoyance.
"It's okay. You're so beautiful!" Your husband grinned cheekily, causing you to roll your eyes playfully in response.
"And they all lived happily ever after." His vibrating voice closed the story, a smile of contentment washing over his chiseled features at the sight of his two little girls asleep safe and sound.
"They're so beautiful." He whispers. You find yourself giggling at his mesmerizing over his 'princesses' as he liked to call them. From the moment they were born, Cody was absolutely in LOVE with them - It's an understatement to say he would do absolutely anything for them.
You lifted a delicate hand, your fingers dancing across his buzzed, platinum hair. Cody leans his head into your warm embrace, wrapping his arms around your waist and holding you tight. You return the favor, holding him just as tight, whispering
"I love you."
"I love you." He replies, swiftly standing up with you in his arms and chuckling and your semi-quiet squeal. As your knight in shining armor carry's you out of your princesses' bedroom, you turn the light off and he shuts the door - Him continuing to strut to your shared bedroom while still peering into your eyes.
Cody gently lays you on the bed, almost immediately hopping under the covers with you and pressing his lips to yours. The kiss you two shared was almost as tender and gentle as the very first time your lips had ever touched, all those years ago in the Colorado snow. Memories of that night flooded back into both of your heads, how warm you made each other feel despite the temperatures being below zero.
Your bodies connect yet again as you continue sharing your love for one another, that is until Cody finds himself yearning to see your eyes again. So, he pulls away, smiling at your whining.
"C'mon it was getting good.." you whined.
Your husband chuckled. "You'll have your time, baby." He whispered, eyes becoming heavy at the sight of you. He felt an instant comfort in your presence, being surrounded by your warmth was more than enough for him to live out the rest of his days with. With Cody, he didn't need food, nor water; all he needed was you.
"Hmph." You jokingly turned your face away from his as he inches closer to you for another kiss. Cody giggled, raising an eyebrow at your pretend defiance. After a while of not feeling him, you open one eye to see him staring at you.
Before you could protest, your husband gently took your face in his hand, connecting your lips once again in the most tender way possible.
"Go to sleep, beautiful.." he whispered, half asleep.
Your heart melted at his demeanor; calm, collected, and safe. You inches closer, letting his body engulf yours as you slowly begin to drift into your dreams.
