You tossed and turned in bed, finding allowing your heavy eyes their union to be a despairing task. Your life lately had been an abundance of loss and misery. Along with confusion and anger, you found yourself frequently bedridden. The overwhelming nausea that pooled itself within your solar plexus bonded you to your bedsheets.

Today, actually, should've been one of the happiest days of your life - your best friend had finally returned from the road. Not only that, she was allowed time off to spend with you - per her request. She cared about you that much that she had requested time off of her job just to take care of you.

The sight of her crystalline eyes and fuzzy black hair warmed your heart for the first time in weeks, but even that was temporary. While she was around, close enough for you to feel her radiance, you felt okay. You felt like your life was set on hold and for those moments, everything was going to be okay.

Then, you seen her begin to yawn. To look at you with tired eyes, your heart dropped. Life was going to begin playing again, and your body was going to turn on you once more. When she kissed your forehead, and told you goodnight, you felt a sense of fear that you'd never thought would come from this.

Your heart rate began to pick up, your breath began ripping through your throat in its deepest escape attempt. Steaming tears streamed down your pristine cheeks at the agonies that life has conjured up within the cauldrons of your chest and heart.

Even in your deepest darkest moments, you still thought of others - Rhea, in particular. Not wanting to wake her, you bit down hard on your clenched fingers. The pain in your hand only seemed to soothe you for a couple milliseconds, pressure begins to build and build until you eventually bend to far for your own good.

Your ears begin to ring as your plump lips depart, and you roar your dejection. Through this, you barely had time to register your light turning on and the strong arms of your best friend wrapping themselves around your depressed body.

You can barely see her face through your tears. Even in that state, the sight of her furrowed eyebrows, blue eyes, and messy dark hair comforted you better than any journal, playlist, or blanket ever could.

"I'm here. I'm here, darling." She trembled, raspy voice shaking at the sight of one of her best friends in the deepest pain a person could ever feel. She took you in her arms, stroking your back with her manicured nails - you always did like the feeling.

After a few minutes of holding you as tight as she could, she pulled back only slightly to cup your face in her soft hands.

"Tell me where it hurts." She whispered, wiping your tears from your face. You broke down once again, taking her tattooed hand and pressing it against the side of your chest that protected your heart. Your best friend felt her heart sink in her chest, then again this is why she was here. To make you feel better, and to offer herself some peace of mind knowing that you're safe.

She pulled you into her arms once again, this time lying the two of your bodies down onto your clouded sheets, rubbing your back and whispering into your ear.

"I Love You." Over and over again. For most people, they'd probably get annoyed in disbelief. But, Rhea was never one to tell just anyone that she loved them. So, hearing it from her in a time like this was all the more comforting. You finally found the strength to move your body again, wrapping your arms around her slender waist.

The two of you lie there until dawn, when the both of you had the desire to watch the sunrise. You found yourselves on the balcony, watching the transitioning orange and pink hues as time went by. You both sat in each other's energies, finding safety in the breeze until eventually you both began to doze off.

In your final moments being awake, you both leaned your head in each other's, closing your eyes and letting your tiredness overtake both of your bodies.

You both lie there, in the calm after the storm. Your life felt like it was falling apart, and maybe it was. But, the one thing that'll never fall apart for you is one special Aussie woman. She made it clear and apparent to you that as long as she existed, you'll always have an oasis in Rhea Ripley.
