—❦—« My fate? What do you mean, my fate? I dont belong here, Vessel... » I said, feeling overwhelmed.
« You don't understand. » He said as calmly as he could.
« Then explain it to me! » I said, raising my voice again before calming down again.
He chuckled nervously. « I don't understand either, Dahlia. It seems Sleep has some kind of... interest in you. » Vessel tried to explain.
« This is creeping me out. » I said, shaking my head before noticing something.
Aurora and Orion!
« You brought my cats here, too? » I asked.
« Yeah. Is it okay? » He asked, sounding scared that he might've made the wrong decision.
« Yes... thanks. » I said quietly as I got out of the bed and walked over to the two Maine coon cats lying on the couch.
I sat on the floor next to the couch and ran my hand through Aurora's fur as she slept peacefully. All of a sudden, I burst into tears, overwhelmed by everything that was happening.
« Dahlia... » Vessel said as he walked over to me and sat down next to me.
He started rubbing my back. I didn't exactly like when he touched me, but I honestly needed some comfort at the moment, so I didn't say anything.
« Why me? This is so unfair... What does he want from me? » I asked, sobbing while burying my face in my hands.
« Dahlia, we're going to figure it out, alright? » Vessel said.
« Why do you care so much?! You don't even know me! » I said, raising my voice at him without exactly wanting to.
« ... Calm down. » He said, continuing to rub my back, ignoring the angry tone in my voice.
« No! Let me go home, Vessel! » I exclaimed.
« Dahlia, I can't. This isn't an option anymore... » He said, looking at me through the slits of his mask.
« I don't belong here, Vessel! I don't belong here! » I said, my forehead resting on the couch as tears rolled down my cheeks uncontrollably.
Vessel stayed quiet and just looked at me as he continued rubbing my back in an attempt to give me some comfort. A few minutes later, Vessel spoke up again as I was just resting my head on the couch, the tears dry on my cheeks.
« Dahlia, I'm sorry... » He said quietly.
I sighed. « What does he want from me anyway? » I asked, wanting answers.
« I don't know. Sleep wasn't very clear with what he said last time I saw him. We'll figure it all out, okay? Do you trust me? » Vessel asked, hope in his voice.
I looked at him, still feeling a bit annoyed that I didn't know what he looked like, but I shrugged it off. I nodded in answer to his question before lying my head back down onto the couch.
Would I get used to being here?
