—❦—It's only hours later that I woke up lying in Vessel's bed again. I looked around myself and saw I was still in his cabin. Okay... so this wasn't just some nightmare. I was actually back in Eden and was somehow stuck in here because some psychotic made up god that appeared in my dream and won't let me go? Just great.
I sighed and got out of bed, deciding to look around the cabin a little to see what kind of stuff Vessel had in here. His bookshelf was filled with several books, and one of them was a book that I had back at home. I stopped next to the mirror hanging on the wall and noticed my horrible haircut. Of course, after just waking up, I should've expected this. Quickly, I tied my hair in a bun like always and continued looking around the cabin. My eyes darted around until they landed on his desk. Several papers rested on top of the wooden desk, and I couldn't help but look at what they were.
Songs, lyrics, instrumentals... they were all the same things. I saw several piano songs like Atlantic or Blood Sport, but the one that caught my attention was... Euclid? This sounded very familiar... Vincent! It was Vincent who had written this! I picked it up and looked at the music sheet. My eyes looked back and forth between the paper and the piano in the corner of the cabin.
Should I?
Yes, I should... I slowly walked over to the piano and sat down, placing the sheet upon the sheet holder. I had played piano before and if I was right... then I wouldn't have any trouble playing Euclid.
My eyes examined the paper once again before I placed my hands above the first notes...
« What are you doing? » A curious voice came from the doorway.
Startled, I turned around and saw Vessel standing in the doorway, his head slightly tilted and his arms crossed over his chest.
« Oh- Vessel! I, uh... » I started, but he cut me off.
« Don't look in my stuff, Dahlia. » He said, walking over to me.
He didn't sound stern at all, but I felt like I was being scolded even if his voice was soft and had a hint of playfulness in it.
« I apologize... » I said, standing up from my seat at the piano and looking up at Vessel.
He looked at the music sheet I had placed on the sheet holder, and he looked at me. I looked back at him.
« Euclid? » He said, wondering why I was about to try playing this song.
I just smiled a bit awkwardly.
He sat at the piano, and his hands rested over the piano keys, not pressing on them so as not to make any sound.
« Would you like for me to play it? » He asked.
Was he trying to bond with me? That's what it looked like because he had a bright smile on his face and was willing to play me a song.
« Sure... I'd like that. » I sat, taking a seat on the edge of his bed as I looked at him.
He seemed pleased with my answer. Vessel then looked back at the keys, and he started playing a melody I recognized. It was far in my memories, but I remember when I hummed this song while working at the bakery. Vincent had written a song from what I was humming. Hold on...
Vincent?
My mind started to connect the pieces. Vincent... V... Vessel! His voice and the familiar feeling I got around him... it all made sense! Still... what took me so long to figure it out, damn.
I was brought out of my thoughts as Vessel sang while playing...
« Just run it back, give me five whole minutes. I am thick tar on the inside burning. I've got a ghost in the hallway, grinning and a heavy head that won't stop turning. » He sang.
His voice was out of this world. A unique voice. A beautiful voice. A powerful voice. A soothing voice. A- Okay, that's enough...
As the song went on, I couldn't help but be in awe. The lyrics were so... poetic in a way, and I loved it. At the end of the song, I found myself smiling. He looked back at me and smiled as well.
« You like it? » He asked.
« Yes. Of course, I do. » I answered, still smiling. « I love your voice... » I blurted out.
His smile widened. « Thank you, Dahlia. » Vessel said.
