" I'll get us an uber" Alanna slurs.
By this point, I couldn't tell you how many rounds we'd had.
All of us sat out the front of the bar,
Hayley and Ellie play scissors paper rock beside me.
Mary was picked up by her partner a few minutes earlier, and Sam's stood on a bench, watching the traffic pass." I might just walk home guys, It's only short and I could probably use it" I say.
They all turn to me, Alanna ordering the uber before shaking her head.
" Nah, not by yourself. You'll be picked up in a second".
Sam jumps down off the bench, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I'll walk with her".
Mackenzie gives Alanna a side eyed smirk before nodding, " Okay, well be safe and we'll see you guys for Friday's training".
Hugging each of them individually before they stumble into the car, watching them drive off.
Turning to face her, a side smile across her face, sliding her hands into her pockets as we begin to walk side by side.
It takes us a few minutes walking in a comfortable silence before I clear my throat.
" You really didn't have to walk me home you know?".
She nods, " I know".
Staring back at the ground, I fidget with my rings some more.
" So do you miss home then?".
I shake my head, " Not really. The familiarity of it yeah, but otherwise no".
" Why do I get the feeling there's something you're not telling everyone?".
I almost stop in my place.
Feeling a lump form in my throat, I quickly clear it, her eyes warm on me.
Who is this woman and why is she in my head.Glancing up at her, she stares at me as if she's examining my face.
Feeling my cheeks become warm, I shake my head." Ah, you've just had one too many Kerr".
She chuckles, looking away from me before we turn down my street.
Walking up to my front door, I scramble for the key in my bag, making a mental note to clean it out when I next get the chance." How are you getting home then?".
She shrugs, " It's like a five minute walk, I'll be fine".
Unlocking the door, I turn to face her.
" Well, thanks for walking with me. You really didn't have to".
She nods, " Guess I wanted to".
My cheeks feel warm again, watching a small smirk spread across her face.
Does she know what she's doing or is she innocently naive?" See you Friday".
" See you then" She says, turning to walk off.
I watch her disappear down the street, shutting the front door behind me.
Pulling my skirt off, I throw it in the laundry before crawling into bed, I leave my phone on the side table, desperately trying not to think about my phone call with Leah earlier.
Why does she have to be so persistent.
