" And for what? All just to shove it back in my face?" Alanna continues about her partner.
Mackenzie's trying her best to focus but seems to keep getting distracted with the mini umbrella in her drink,
Sam's invested in the conversation, continuing to ask further questions while Caitlin's head is in her phone.I try my best to focus, but Sam's been gently tracing circles on my thigh and I've almost had enough.
There's a few bright flashes outside of the restaurant, our heads all turning to some paparazzi's and news reporters.
My stomach turns, clearing my throat.
" We should go".
They all nod, sliding out of our seats.
Mackenzie and Alanna walk first, followed by Caitlin.Sam glances at me before reaching her hand out, gently interlocking our fingers.
She sends me a reassuring smile before walking out the doors. Her name is repeatedly called by the reporters, then some throw my name in.
I can't hear much, the flashes are too distracting and I'm trying to keep my eyes on the floor, putting full trust in Sam leading the way.She looks back at me once, continuing to push through the crowd.
" Sam what do you have to say on the large chunk of followers and supporters you've lost in the last day?" A reporter shouts.
Sending him a pissed off look, I want nothing more than to throw his microphone far away.
But there's too many cameras on us.Caitlin climbs into the drivers seat, the rest of us piling in.
Sams the last to get in, a reporter shouting a few muffled things at her before she closes the car door behind her.The car completely silent as we drive off.
Mackenzie let's out a large breath next to me." The fuck was all that for?".
" They're just assholes, all of them" Alanna says.
Turning to face Sam, she stares out the window.
Our fingers still interlocked, I gently rub my thumb against hers. Her eyes meeting mine, she presses her lips together in a flat line.
" Coach posted on it, discrediting all the information going around. He even included a quote on quote sentence from you on how it was your brother" Alanna shows us her phone.
We just nod, my eyes straight back on Sam.
She's grown quiet.
She's never quiet, not like this.Guilt washing over me, I lean my head against her shoulder.
Taking in her deep smelling cologne, feeling her shoulders rise and fall.I think I know what needs to be done.

Once we're back at mine, Hazel follows me to the front door.
She's got some sort of look on her face, whether it's sorrow or guilt, Im unsure.
" Are you okay?".
She nods, sliding her hands into her back pockets.
" Those reporters didn't get to you? Cmon, I've dealt with stuff like this my whole life. I'm fine,
I promise" I reassure her.It hurt a bit, that so many supporters and 'fans' were so quick to believe the information they received.
It hurts that so many people would genuinely think I'd be capable of hurting her, yeah.
