𝑨𝑵𝑨𝑲𝑰𝑵 arrived in the early morning. Lia sighed upon seeing him carrying a body covered in blankets. She could hear the others coming out behind her and she bowed her head as Anakin passed her. Anakin looked straight ahead as he carried the body of his mother into the homestead.

Later, Lia carried some food into the garage where Anakin had locked himself in since he had returned with Shmi's lifeless body. She bit her lip, anxiously, as her eyes landed on Anakin, who was by the workbench, repairing a part of the speeder.

"I brought you something." Lia said

Anakin said nothing as he continued working.

"Are you hungry?" Lia asked

"The shifter broke. Life seems so much simpler when you're fixing things." Anakin said

Lia placed the tray on top of one of the empty workbenches.

"I'm good at fixing things. Always was. But I couldn't..." Anakin started

He abruptly stopped what he was doing as he turned towards Lia, tears brimming in his eyes as his voice wavered with untamed emotions.

"Why'd she have to die? Why couldn't I save her? I know I could have!" Anakin said

Lia looked at the man she loved with pity in her eyes.

"Sometimes there are things no one can fix. You're not all-powerful, Kin." Lia reminded

"Well, I should be! Someday I will be. I will be the most powerful Jedi ever!" Anakin exclaimed

He turned to face Lia.

"I promise you. I will even learn to stop people from dying." Anakin ranted

"Anakin." Lia said

The young padawan let out a groan, fury was evident on his expression.

"It's all Obi-Wan's fault! He's jealous! He's holding me back!" Anakin accused

He hurled the wrench he had in his grasp across the room, breathing heavily as he gazed down at his trembling hands.

"What's wrong, Kin?" Lia asked

Anakin pursed his lips, tears welling up in his eyes.

"I... I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead. Every single one of them." Anakin said

He turned to face Lia, who held a weary expression.

"And not just the men, but the women and the children too. They're like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals! I hate them!" Anakin exclaimed

He sat down on the ground, trying to calm himself. Lia moved to sit next to him and hesitantly extended out her hand. Anakin looked at her, feeling prepared to start crying at any moment as he took her hand.

"To be angry is to be human." Lia consoled

Anakin shook his head.

"I'm a Jedi. I know I'm better than this." Anakin said

Lia frowned and pulled the boy into her arms, allowing him to mourn his mother. He buried his head into her chest and she rubbed his head, soothing him as he cried.

"You're going to be okay, Anakin." Lia said

Later, Padmé and Lia were in the room provided to them by the Lars family.

"How is he?" Padmé asked

"He's mourning and he's confused about it. The Jedi have taught him that his emotions were bad." Lia said

Padmé hummed in confusion and Lia shrugged in response.

"I just wish there was more I could do to help him." Lia said

"You love him." Padmé stated

Lia smiled sadly.

"I do and I wish we lived in a different world. But it's not possible." Lia said

Lia held a saddened expression on her face as she stood between Padmé and Anakin, who gazed down at his mother's grave

Lia held a saddened expression on her face as she stood between Padmé and Anakin, who gazed down at his mother's grave. Two other headstones, one smaller than the other, stood in the blazing sun.

Cliegg pursed his lips.

"I know wherever you are it's become a better place. You were the most loving partner a man could ever have. Goodbye, my darling wife. And thank you." Cliegg said

Lia gazed up at Anakin who paused for a short moment before kneeling down in front of the grave, taking a fist full of sand.

"I wasn't strong enough to save you, Mom. I wasn't strong enough. But I promise I won't fail again." Anakin said

The young padawan stood back up as he breathed out.

"I miss you... so much." Anakin said

Lia gazed down at Shmi's grave when a familiar beep caught her attention, Padmé tilted her head at the sight of the R2 unit.

"R2? What are you doing here?" Padmé asked

Lia furrowed her brows in concern as the droid whistled to C-3PO, who gazed over at Anakin.

"It seems that he is carrying a message from an Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hmm. Master Ani, does that name mean anything to you?" C-3PO aske
