Chapter 7

Alya's POV

I realised that Jerry wasn't here and asked Mari and she thought it was weird too. I told her to get back to the shoot while I called him but before I could, the ground began to shake. An earthquake? Marinette flipped the switch causing an alarm to go off which signals an emergency evacuation.

"Boys follow me. This way." Marinette called out to the guys who followed before Nino and I followed behind them. We quickly ran down the stairs as Marinette tried ringing Jerry who was apparently in the lobby waiting for us to join him.

We arrived at the ground floor when suddenly, parts of the building began to collapse and fall off. We sprinted over to Jerry and when we passed by him, he joined us in getting out. Suddenly a huge chunk of the roof fell in our path and others tumbled and landed in front of the door. We were trapped.

"What do we do now dudette?" Nino asked. "It isn't wise but the bathrooms have windows and there's an emergency exit down the south corridor but it'll take longer to get there." Jason furrowed his brows, "It's better than just standing here. Let's try the bathrooms and-"

The ground shook more violently and when we looked around us, more parts of the building were coming down and fast. If we don't move from here, there's a fair chase we'll get crushed by one. Marinette was about to lead the chase to supposed freedom, when the roof finally gave way above us.

Sh*t! Nino latched onto me tightly, almost squeezing me to death. But before the chunk could make contact, a red force field appeared and saved us from getting crushed. I turned to see Mari standing with her arms stretched out, a red aura around her and bright scarlet eyes staring ahead.

"Ma- *clears throat* Nettie..are you-" The rest of the floors above us came crashing down. Marinette groaned in pain as each wave tumbled down upon her shield. "We need to move. Let's head for the exit. That way no one will see her." The boys nodded as Jason slowly picked up Mari and as he moved with her, so did her shield.

We climbed over the debris as Jerry led us to the exit on the south side of the building and thank God it was still in one piece. Jerry pushed open the door with the help of Damian and Nino as it was a little bit stuck but eventually they got it to open.

We made it outside and we ended up in a back alley with some other buildings on the block. Jason slowly rested Mari down, her shield slowly fading. Once it was gone, she fainted as Jason quickly caught her before she could fall. Jerry took her from there and we all left walking around but that's when I realised that the further away we were from the building, the less the rumbling got.

I raised a brow and realised someone was probably targeting Marinette. This had to be the work of some villain but who? My phone began to vibrate in my pocket and I pulled it out to see Kagami. "Hey, are you guys okay? The building was on the news. I wasn't able to get you before so I got worried." I sighed. "Is Net alright?" Luka asked in the background.

Alya: She's okay. She used her powers to save us and we got out. She's passed out right now, Jerry has her so we'll be heading over to your place soon.

Kagami: No probs. But..your tone sounds like your investigative blogger one.

Luka: Did you find something?

Alya: I..just thought.. Nevermind. I'll go further into detail when we meet.

Kagami: Alright. Bye Alya.

I ended the call, stooping down to have a closer look at what I was seeing on the floor. It..looked to be some kind of fur... I took a picture with my phone and left. I met up with the others who were just now getting into the limo when suddenly the air got colder.

I was soon frozen in my spot, my feet frozen to the ground restricting my movement. Nino was about to run over to my aid when Jason stopped him. Any second later and he would've been an ice statue. I turned around and saw Icicle Junior and the Terror twins emerge from the alley behind us.

"Sorry boys, but here's how this is gonna go. You give us that girl and you all won't die including this one. Simple. You have at least 2 days to decide before we turn brunette here into a meta." the male twin said. Nino glared at him and I shook my head. "I'll be fine. Keep Nettie safe."

And before I could even react, Junior sprayed gas in my face causing me to lose consciousness. Before I totally blacked out, I heard the opening of what I thought was a bomb tube and with that, there was silence.
