Damian's POV

I already wasn't good at communicating with people. I feel like I should've told her something before she walked upstairs. What the hell happened between her and Kent? I got a phone call and wasn't surprised to see it was him. I groaned as I answered. "What?" He sounded terrible to say the least. "Hey..Uh- is Nettie back at the Manor..?"

I narrowed my eyes. "Why, is she not with you? What's going on?" He heavily exhaled before mumbling, "I'm an a**hole..." I raised a brow, "Why would you say that? Did you do something?" I said with a bit of sarcasm. He groaned, "I-I..accidentally...b-broke up with Nettie.." How do you accidentally break up with someone? "What do you mean?" I queried.

"Damian, I messed up. I really did.. I don't know what came over me. I just really, really, really, messed up..." I sighed, "Well, just talk it out-" "N-No..I can't. I really messed up. There's no fixing it. I made a big mistake and it cost us our relationship. J-Just..she's there right, at the Manor?" I glanced at Nettie who walked past with a glass of water. "Yes." "Good." He replied with relief before hanging up.

I never thought I'd be the one tasked with comforting both of them. I made my way upstairs to see Duusuu and Tikki sitting on the floor outside Nettie's room. I knelt in front of them, holding my hand out. They hesitantly flew in my palm and sat down. "Why are you two sitting outside?" Tikki looked at Duusuu who was shedding tears.

"I-I'm trying to comfort her. Duusuu feels it's her fault that they broke up." I sat down and leaned my back against the wall. "It's not your fault. People our age never really do have stable relationships. Like, take Drake for example. He broke up with Sandsmark all for the sake of a mission. Even though they're 'friends' now, I can tell it's still awkward between them."

Duusuu looked up at me. "Have you ever loved someone before, Damian?" My eyes widened and I glanced away. "M-Maybe...but that's a secret." She sat up, fixing her posture as her tears stopped, "Who is it!?" I groaned, "I can't tell you. It wouldn't be a secret if I did." She flew around my head a few times then squealed, "*gasps* Is it Nettie!?!"

I swiftly got up and shushed her, "D-Don't scream it! She might hear you!" I whisper-shouted. She giggled and she looked happy again. Tikki smiled and thanked me as the door opened. Nettie peeked out and was surprised to see me there. "Damian... Thanks for finding the kwamis. Duusuu, next time don't run away from me alright." She nodded and flew back, Tikki nodding her head doing the same.

"U-Uh.." I mumbled. Nettie stopped, "What's up? Do you need something?" The words were stuck in my throat. Damnit. What would Grayson say...? "U-Um..if you want to talk t-then you can talk t-to..me..." Her eyes widened a bit before she scoffed. "I didn't know you could be a mediator for relationships." I sighed, "No it's just...We are...f-friends..right..?"

There was silence from her. I glanced at her and she was smiling. "Yes, we are, boy wonder. Never thought you'd say that. But as of right now, I'm fine. I just have...some things to clear up. Good night." And with that she closed the door. Why do I get the feeling she'll go off and do something reckless?

I returned downstairs to see Father, which was strange because he was supposed to be out on a mission. "Father?" He turned around to reveal Zatanna who was behind him. "Damian. It's been a while. How are you?" she asked with a smile. I nodded, "Fine. What's going on here?" Father sighed and Zatanna turned to me.

"Where's Nettie? I wanted to have a word with her." I sighed, "She's upstairs in her room." She walked past, thanking me and she was gone. "Father, looks like those two broke up." I began. He gave a little grin. "You have a chance now." I was stunned, "W-What do you mean!?" He chuckled. I groaned, "Well..the reason behind it was because 'Little Miss Kryptonian Cousin' brainwashed him with the help of Klarion. Her story was a farce."

Father didn't look surprised at all. "Do you have proof?" I shook my head. "Not liable ones. Nettie, while using her powers, ventured into some time stream and saw her contacting him first hand. But now, that connection between her and the Kents is cut off." He thought. He was about to speak when Zatanna walked back down the stairs with a frustrated look. "Is she gone?" I asked muddly.

She shook her head. "She's in a trans, meditating. The kwamis aren't even present. But good news. I saw the Guardian before her. He's preparing her for something." Father raised a brow, "For what?" She shrugged, "He wouldn't say. But I can tell by his magic it wasn't anything evil." I sat down on the couch, "So you're trusting a dead guy to train her?"

Father began to walk away, "Worried about her." I blushed a bit. "No I'm not Father!" Zatanna stood at the foot of the stairs confused.
~~~~~
It was after 2 in the morning and I heard Nettie's door open. I peaked out the door to see her walking down the stairs and towards the batcave entrance. I followed her silently and just watched her. I got a chill behind me and I groaned inaudibly. I turned around just as Todd was about to jump me. "What are you doing?" I whispered. He pouted, "Damnit...I just got back from a mission. What are you doing?"
I sighed, "Keeping an eye on her. She's acting off." As I said that she paused in the middle of the cave, the kwamis appeared around her. She held out her hands and a hologram projection fazed into reality. Highlighted in a red aura, a short old man came to be and stood in front of her, his hand behind his back and a smile on his face.
Nettie's hands fell to her sides and soon, so did she to her knees on the ground. I was about to run to her side when I stopped myself. The old man chuckled and turned to Todd and I. "You can both come over now. You are terrible hiders." Nettie turned around and looked at us. He then looked down at her. "Which should I call you?" Nettie slowly stood up, "Nettie..."
Does that mean Nettie isn't her real name? This guy knows what it is. N-Not that I wanna know... "Good job, Nettie. You successfully perfected the skill." She smiled softly, "Thanks master. Boys, meet Master Fu, the Guardian before me." Todd and I introduced ourselves as he would laugh, "Such handsome young men. I used to look like that too in my prime, right Wazz?"
Wazz awkwardly chuckled, "Of course, master..." He then turned to Nettie and said, "Now then, it's time for your extensive training. Klarion is planning something. You, the Guardian, need to be ready when that time comes. And I'm afraid it will be a lot sooner than we think."
