*💚Julia's POV💚*

The abandoned mining warehouse swallowed us whole, its vast interior a maze of rusted machinery, dangling chains, and pools of inky shadow. The air was thick with the smell of damp earth and decayed metal.

"Like, where did old man nutjob go? Through here, Scoob? Jewels?" Shaggy whispered; his voice swallowed by the cavernous space. He pointed uncertainly at a dark archway leading deeper in.

"I don't know," Scooby murmured, his ears flat against his head.

I kept so close to Shaggy I could feel the nervous heat radiating from him. The darkness here wasn't just an absence of light; it felt like a physical presence, hiding things. We crept forward, our footsteps echoing too loudly. One moment we were huddled together; the next, Shaggy had an arm around each of us, pulling us into a protective cluster. Then, in a panic-induced shuffle, Scooby somehow ended up hoisting both Shaggy and me off the ground in a wobbly bear hug.

A skeletal figure stepped from behind a pillar, bones clacking. It wasn't a costume from the museum. This one moved with a jerky, sinister life of its own.

Shaggy yelped, his grip on me tightening as he stumbled backwards, pulling us both down in a heap. "Run, Scoob! It's a skelly thingy!"

We scrambled to our feet as Scooby dropped us. The skeleton lunged, its foot caught on a loose cable, and it dissolved into a harmless pile of bones with a dusty rattle.

Shaggy and Scooby, fleeing blindly, tripped over a coiled hose. Shaggy went down face-first; Scooby flailed and caught himself on a rusted lever jutting from the wall. With a groan of protest, the lever gave way.

A section of the corrugated iron wall slid aside, revealing a yawning, dark elevator shaft and an ancient, cage-like elevator.

"Elevator!" I gasped, already moving. It was the only way forward that wasn't back toward the skeleton or deeper into the unknown dark.

Shaggy scooped up a dazed Scooby and we piled into the creaking contraption. "Good work, pal!" Shaggy panted.

"Like, let's skedaddle!" He hit the only button. With a jolt and a deafening screech of gears, we began a slow, shuddering descent into the earth.

When the elevator finally clanked to a halt, the world had changed. We weren't in a mine anymore. We were in a vast, subterranean chamber that hummed with hidden power. Banks of computers lined one wall. Strange, glowing vats bubbled. It was a laboratory, but one born from a nightmare.

"Wowee, Scooby-Doo! Jewels! I think we're onto something," Shaggy breathed, his fear momentarily eclipsed by awe. "It's like a huge laboratory."

The voice from the elevator speaker crackled. "Go ahead."
