Feelings Unexpressed

12th grade

Summer vacations were going on and the postman arrived and handed the envelope in Ariel's mom's hand and he left, I know this sounds absurd but her higher secondary did this and to date continues doing so. Ariel was at her grandma's place and was in the vacation mood as only a fourth night had passed since the exams had ended and she assumed there was still time for the results to be declared. Ariel does the sign of the cross before opening the envelope and sees if she has cleared the exam instead of checking how much she scored she only checked if she was promoted, Ariel's mom always felt that she was less than her cousins, friends, and neighbors as Ariel scored less than them but never saw that Ariel was part of every single co-curricular activity and usually excelled in it, hence she wasted no time and went rushing to her mother-in -law's house. 

She yelled out Ariel's name from outside until her mother-in-law came and put a hand on her shoulder and  said "Come in relax my child " She replied " I can't mama, Ariel is been promoted to 12th grade and she needs to get a good score or else she won't be able to get into a good college, you know how hard she studies but her handwriting seems like only a pharmacist would be able to comprehend" the biased grandma replies " my granddaughter's writing isn't that bad and she will have an easy access to the best college as she is an excellent sportswoman, and look at the trophies and medals she has won don't worry she will do well in her exams trust me, she is a good disciplined girl only thing is her attention is disrupted." Ariel's mom looks at her and asks " where is she ? enough of time pass let her study now itself, I know her as well when the so called co-curricular activities will be conducted she will be the first one to participate or to be called or dragged into those events like always and she will refuse and even then she will be a part of it , till date I remember last year, during Diwali celebrations she was asked to do rangoli however she had luck and got 3rd place."

Ariel's mom saw Ariel and other neighbours playing cards in her aunts room. Ariel saw her mom and she was about to leave but then her mom made a gesture which meant relax and carry on with the game and she left . Ariel and her companions were also stunned as to what had happened as whenever her mom came she would take her home immediately but today something strange happened. Ariel was clueless as to what had happened and so she went to her grandma's room in order to inquire as to what had happened and at that time she tells her that everything is alright and asks her to help her in the kitchen but when she saw wrinkles on her forehead she said "relax my baby everything is sorted and you are staying here for 4 days and 3 nights as I had 3 tickets to this religious place and you are not going there as I have to teach you things more important than that and within 4 days you will be good to go trust me" and she kissed her forehead.

Ariel went to the kitchen, when her aunt saw her she told her that food was ready and she didn't need any help as she had cooked everything by 6 o'clock, as her aunt was unmarried and was the youngest in the family and she her aunt also stitched clothes in her spare time as she had done diploma in  fashion designing and she had degree in psychology she also worked as a councilor at the higher secondary school which was 7 kilometers away from home,and she was also on a break she was that kind of person who would never waste time in useless gossips or timepass talks, she was an extraordinary blend of introvert and extrovert, she had a dark sense of humour which only Ariel would be able to comprehend and that made them bond well. She asked Ariel to help in cleaning her room which was in total disaster, Ariel always helped her cleaning since she was 6, she felt that Ariel was the only one who could help her with that and after she helped she would offer her something or the other ad this time she offered to take her to the cinema hall but Ariel said "I want to spend quality time with you and in case of a movie the latest movie is rotten tomatoes so can we  have long conversations and enjoy like before, please and yeah we should also have a dance session wonder when I will get a chance, once the results are out freedom will also go for a toss"
