It was snowing, bringing a chill to settle around everything. But the cold didn't deter Masachika's eternal enthusiasm, and he was pulling a coat on, feet already stuffed in boots and hands buried in mittens. He grinned as he forced Sanemi outside with him, helping him with some gloves before taking him by the hand and dragging him down the streets.

Despite Sanemi's protests, he still stumbled after him, albeit he grumbled the entire time. Unsure where they were going, it was only reasonable for Sanemi to be surprised when he finally recognized the snow-blanketed beach. The sea was slow, the ice resisting against the waves even as the wind tried to encourage it.

Seeing that he'd understood, Masachika's smile brightened. His cheeks and the tip of his nose were frosted pink, and his breath came out visibly, but he was unbothered. Instead, he shouted something of exuberance, letting go of Sanemi's hand and taking off into the frozen-over sand. He was hardly running, the snow too dense to move quickly enough, but he barely noticed, jogging backwards for a moment to beckon Sanemi over.

Reluctantly, Sanemi joined him, trudging after him. When he was finally caught up (Masachika stopped to wait), he was pulled into a clumsy embrace, laughter ringing in his ears.

"Jesus, Kumeno, you're an idiot," he grumbled, fighting back his smile. "It's freezing."

"Then we should run around to warm up!" Masachika insisted. He spun them around, only succeeding in nearly sending them tumbling over. It was all they could do not to topple into the snow, and the exertion of it was hilarious to Masachika. He was grinning, breath coming short from the earlier run. Snowflakes tried to land on his hair, struggling to reach his face, but he was moving too much, trying hard to stay upright as he clung onto Sanemi.

"C'mon!" he urged, finally managing to stand up and offering a hand to Sanemi. This time, Sanemi took it willingly (after only slight hesitation), and they began a quick walk down the beach, skimming around the water.

It was odd to see the place completely draped with snow, the white almost blinding in the sunlight that managed to peek through the clouds. But it wasn't entirely unpleasant, even with the cold. At least, Masachika was having fun, his smiles wide and unfiltered. It was almost adorable, and Sanemi decided to take that as compensation for dragging him out in the cold.

They slowed to a stroll after a while, hands intertwined as best they could be through the gloves. Their arms swung in time with their synchronized steps. Neither of them spoke, allowing gentle hand-squeezes to be enough, occasionally offering smiles to one another. Eventually, they circled back to return home, with Masachika admitting they should probably get inside. Sanemi didn't seem to mind the walk back, however, humming to himself and slowly but surely shuffling closer to his companion. Until they arrived home and he was practically leaning against him, unwilling to let go.

Masachika pointed it out, patting Sanemi with a grin. But Sanemi denied it, opening the door and pulling his boots off. "You're a source of heat," he deadpanned.

Though he saw clearly through Sanemi's lie, Masachika played along as they clambered back inside, locking the door behind him and promptly engulfing Sanemi in a hug. He held onto him, answering with nothing but laughter. He clung onto him until Sanemi had to pull him off, replacing himself with a pillow.

"You went outside on your own, so warm yourself!" he said, grinning.

Masachika pouted, strangling the pillow, but complied, falling onto the couch and sighing. "We should do this again tomorrow."

Almost appalled by the suggestion, Sanemi shook his head. "No. Never again."

"But you loved it!"

"I did not."

"Sanemi!"

"I didn't."

"...yes, you—"

"—did not. We're not going."

"But-

"We're not."

(They did).
