The Funeral and the Secret's Out

​For the next two days, I was busy with going from Hiro Corp to picking up Jun after her kendo practice that I nearly forgot about my mom's funeral until my reminder beep loudly from my phone waking me up early the day of my mother's funeral. I open my eyes to grab my phone to look at why it was beeping and when I saw the reminder, I stood up immediately to grab the black suit that I had set out a week ago to begin dressing in it.
​"Kira, are you up yet?" Asks Jun knocking on my door as I finish buttoning my shirt.
​"Yeah, I just need to fix this tie and I'll be ready." I said before my door opens and Jun enters the room wearing a black dress with a black veil.
​"Here, let me help." Said Jun as she came inside the room to fix and straighten my tie before I grab the black jacket and we made our way down the stairs.
​"Ah, there you two are." Said Yumi wearing a similar dress as Jun with Senjuro standing next to her also wearing a black suit.
​"Ready?" asks Senjuro addressing us and I nodded my head before he opens the front door and we all got inside the car to make the drive to the church where the funeral is being held. Once we made it to the funeral, I saw my relatives from my mother's side making their way inside the church and one of them was my aunt, who is my mother's older sister, along with her husband. When Senjuro park the car, I got out of the car and waited until Jun came out to stand next to me before we made our way to the entrance.
​"Aunt Kaede." I said once I was behind her making her turn around and seeing me she took my into her arms for a tight hug before she started crying.
​"Zeke." Said Kaede once she had let go of me and had her hands on my shoulders.
​"Aunt Kaede, I'm not Zeke anymore, I had my name legally change to the one my mother originally had picked out so it's Akira now." I said with a dry smile making Kaede smile as a voice said, "Kira" we turn our head to see Tanaka wearing a black suit making his way towards us.
​"Hiromichi-san." I said bowing my head respectively as he made a stop in front of us
​"Aunt Kaede, this is Hiromichi Tanaka and Hiromichi-san this is my aunt Keade and her husband, Kazama Jin." I said introducing Tanaka to Kaede and her husband and Tanaka bows his head saying, "I very sorry to hear about your loss."
​"Thank you, Hiromichi-san." Said Kaede
​"We should get inside now." Said Jin and we all enter the church.
​"Aunt Kaede," I said as we were sitting in the pews of the church making her look at me
​"Have you seen that man?" I said asking about my father and Kaede said, "My mom, your grandma, didn't want him to attend so I'm not sure if he's coming or not." I nodded my head just as the priest begins his sermon. Once the priest was done, one by one friends and relatives stood up to place a white rose in front of a picture of my mother and as I stood up, I saw my father wearing a black suit standing near the entrance of the door. My hands immediately form fists and my eyes were narrow angrily before the whispers were going around.
​"What is he doing here?"
​"Why is he here after what he's done?" I heard these being whisper as I made my way towards my mother's picture frame, I place the white rose on top of the many that were there already and made three long bows.
​"How dare you show up here?" yells my grandma's angry voice as I finish my third bow making me turn back just as everyone did the same. I saw my grandma being held by my grandpa and uncle as she tries to get free to get to where my father was standing.
​"You heartless man, how dare you?" Yells my grandma angrily as tears begins to form in her eyes and I made my way slowly towards them.
​"Grandma." I said once I reach them making her turn to look at me before she burst into tears and fell onto her knees as my father made his way towards me.
​"Don't come any closer." I said with malice in my voice making my father stop walking. From his appearance, I could tell that he hasn't been sleeping properly or shaved. His once shaved face now had long grizzle mustache and his eyes had dark bags under them. He made a stop in midstride before he turns around to make his way out of the door.
​"Here, Grandpa, I'll help." I said turning around to grab my grandma's arm that my grandpa had over his shoulders to help my uncle raise her up from the ground before we led her to a pew and set her down.
​"Go after him, Akira, see what he wanted." Said my Grandpa using the name he always use when he talking to me as Jun came to stand next to me and I turn to face her before making a reassuring smile and went towards the door. Once I was outside, I turn my head left and right and not seeing my father, I made my way towards the cemetery that was behind the church to find him standing near a tombstone and I narrow my eyes.
​"What are you doing here?" I said once I was behind my father making him turn to look at me.
​"I came here to see you." Said my father, his once prideful voice is now gone replace with a desperate one.
​"I don't want to see you." I said before I begin turning around making him said, "Zeke, son...."
​"Don't you dare call me that." I said angrily turning around making my father flinch
​"Don't you dare call me your son when you...when you...." I couldn't stop the tears from falling anymore making my father take a step forward and I yelled at him, "Don't come any closer." I then wipe my tears away before taking in a shaky breath to exhale it before I said, "I don't want to see you ever again and if you have anything to say then say it to my mom." I then turn around leaving my father with a sad expression before I made my way back towards the front of the church where people were already leaving.
​"Thank you for taking care of my nephew." I heard Kaede saying as I made my way towards Jun and her parents who were talking to Kaede and Jin.
​"It's no problem at all, Yuki and I were friends for a long time and I always think of Akira as a son." Said Yumi as I went to stand next to Jun
​"Take care of yourself, Akira." Said Kaede now addressing me before she hugs me and I said, "I always do, Aunt Kaede."
​"We'll come by and see you some time." Said Kaede as she lets go of me and I nodded my head
​"Shall we go Kaede?" Asks Jin making Kaede nodded her head before he turns to me saying, "Take care."
​"I will sir." I reply with a small bow before the two of them made their way towards their car
​"We should get going too." Said Senjuro as he looks up at the sky to see storm clouds forming making us make our way towards the car.
​"Kira, when Hiromichi-san left, he told me to tell you to keep your swords up." Said Jun when we were back at the house and we were inside my room. I made a small smile thinking that that was just the joke a person like Tanaka would use.
​"What did your father wanted?" Asks Jun now coming to sit next to me on the bed as she place a hand atop of mine and I shift my head to look at the floor saying, "He said he wanted to see me but I told him that I wanted nothing to do with him. When I saw him, I lost control of my emotions and I told him that I never wanted to see him again."
​"Everything's going to be fine." Said Jun placing her hands on my head before bringing my head down to rest on her chest. I smile and close my eyes as I heard her heartbeat getting faster and faster.
​"Thanks Jun." I said lifting my head to look into her eyes before we lean in towards each other and I gave her a kiss.
​"Kira, Jun, lunch is ready." Said Senjuro knocking on the door and we broke the kiss before Jun said, "We'll be right there." Jun and I stare at each other as we heard the receding footsteps of Jun's father before we both started laughing.
​"I'll see you in kitchen." Said Jun standing up and I nodded my head as Jun made her way out of the door and closing it behind her. I sat on my bed for a while before I stood up to change out of my suit and made my way down the stairs and into the kitchen to see Jun's parent's already sitting at the table both a smile.
​"Kira," said Senjuro as I took the seat in front of him and I look up at him
​"Is there something you and Jun would like to tell us?" asks Senjuro making me blush red but as I open my mouth, Jun walks in the room wearing a jean short with a designer t-shirt and I began to stare at her.
​"Umm hmm." Said Senjuro knocking me back to reality and I shook my head to see that Jun was already sitting next to me.
​"What was that you asked sir?" I said blushing crimson now making Senjuro laugh loudly as Jun look at us in confusion
​"What's going on?" Asks Jun confuse until her mother said, "Your father ask if is there something you and Kira would like to tell us?" This made me look down onto my bowl of rice and I felt Jun's stares before she said, "Uhh, what makes you ask that?"
​"Your father told me the other day that he saw you two kissing in the dojo." Said Yumi making me look up in surprise as Jun stood up exclaiming loudly, "Ehh!?"
​"Joking, you're mother's joking." Said Senjuro with a smile and I felt my muscles relax as Jun sat back down again.
​"Let me just tell you this, Kira as you know, we both look at you as a son even before we adopted you." Said Senjuro seriously now and I nodded my head.
​"We both watch you two grew up together." Added Yumi making me smile
​"Now if you and Jun were to start dating, we would have no problem with it but I would like to ask you two from refraining to do anything inappropriate." Said Senjuro closing his eyes making Jun and I blush red before Jun said, "Father, it's not like that at all."
​"Really? I would have thought that you and Kira were lovey dovey." teased Senjuro laughing making me blush even more as Jun hid her face in her hands groaning.
​"That's enough, father. Let's eat shall we?" Said Yumi as Senjuro stop laughing and we ate in silence.
​"That was so embarrassing." Said Jun once we were back in my room as she rests her head on my shoulders and I smile saying, "At least now we don't have to hide this from your parents."
​"What are you talking about?" Asks Jun looking at me
​"I'm saying I want to start dating you, I don't think I can live without you in my life now." I said making Jun blush before she smile
​"I think I can't live without you too." Said Jun before she place a kiss on my cheeks
​"Oh, I hope you finish your summer homework." I said making Jun froze before she said, "Crap, I totally forgot about it."
​"That's fine, I'll help you." I said making Jun look at me and I nodded towards my bag saying, "I finished the homework some time ago."
​"What? Even the homework you missed?" Asks Jun and I nodded my head saying, "All I need to do now is the project and I decided to do that with you."
​"Damn, I forgot about the project too." Said Jun before she said, "Wait with me?"
​"Yeah, I wanted to do the summer project with you." I said making Jun smile before she lean in towards me and I close my eyes thinking that she was going to kiss me until she push me making me fell onto my back.
​"Wait here and I'll go and get my homework." Said Jun as I open my eyes to see her jump off the bed and out of my room before I sat up shaking me head. This was the first night that we spent together as a couple and we were working on homework.
