A Turn For The.....Worse?

​​I sat up in my bed before taking off the Neuro and stood up to unlock my door. I then made my way down the stairs and into the kitchen to start making dinner. Once I was finish, I made my way to my parent's room before knocking on the door.
​"Mom." I said while waiting. A moment later the door opens and I stared into my mom's bloodshot eyes.
​​"I made dinner." I said making her nod her head before I went back down the stairs with her following me. I began setting the table as my mother took a seat on one of the chairs and she stared at me.
​"Zeke." Said my mom suddenly making me look at her from the stove
​​"I'm sorry." Said my mom making me drop my hands to my side as I hung my head.
​"I'm making you do all these chores when it's supposed to be my responsibilities." Said my mom sadly before I look up at her with a smile.
​"Don't worry about it mom, I'm glad to help." I said making my mom sniff loudly before she wipes some tears off her eyes.
​"You're such a good son." Said my mom making me smile bitterly before I place a plate of food on the table and sat across from her.
​​"I want you to lead a different life than your father and I." said my mom not bothering to eat and I remain silent as I continue to eat.
​​"Don't become like your father." Said my mother worriedly as I took the last bite of my food.
​​"Don't worry about that mom; I'm not planning on becoming like him. Now please just eat will you?" I said before getting up to take my dishes to the sink to start washing it as my mother begins to eat slowly.
​"Zeke, I can take care of those. You go and do whatever it is that you need to." Said my mother standing up from the table with her dirty dishes in her hands surprising me.
​​"Are you sure?" I ask her and she place a hand on my cheek saying, "Yes." I let out a sigh before I dried my hands and went back into my room. The moment I enter my room, I saw my computer screen blinking and I went to sit on the chair before moving the mouse.
​​"New mail." I said looking at the screen before moving the mouse to the mail icon to double click it. A new screen pops up and I navigated the mouse to click on the new mail.
​​"Dear Kira, Our Company has begun production on a new VRMMO. We are looking for input from the number one strongest player of GSA. We look forward to meeting you. Please send a reply email with a set of dates that you are available. Yours truly Hiromichi Tanaka."
​​"Hiromichi Tanaka? The creator of GSA wants to meet me for input of a new game." I said aloud before grabbing my planner. I flip through the planner to the school's calendar to see that summer is a week away so I click on the reply button to start typing the dates of summer vacation before I click the sent button.
​​"Now to get homework out of the way." I say before opening the mail from my teachers to start working on my homework.
​I woke up the next day to look at my computer hoping to have a mail from Tanaka but not seeing one, I went out of my room to take a shower before dressing and began making breakfast.
​"Mom!" I yelled up the stairs, "I left you some breakfast; I'm going to go school now." I then made my way towards the school checking my email through my phone every five minutes.
​​"You have been checking your phone ever since you got here. Waiting for a call?" ask Jun making me look at her. It was lunchtime and I was sitting in my desk staring at the screen of my phone.
​​"I received a mail from Hiromichi Tanaka last night and I been waiting for a reply." I told her making her sit down on the desk next to mine.
​​"Hiromichi Tanaka? You mean the creator of GSA?" Ask Jun and I nodded my head as my phone started vibrating and I turn to look at it.
​​"I got the reply." I said excitedly making Jun's eyes open in surprise.
​​"What does it say?"
​​"Dear Kira, I would like to thank you for your fast reply. I have taken the dates you have sent me into consideration and would like to inform you that we are expecting to see you on the 31st of July. Yours Truly, Hiromichi Tanaka, CEO of Hiro Corporation." I read the email aloud making Jun said, "Congratulations."
​​"I'm just meeting them; it's nothing to celebrate about." I said making Jun wave a hand at me.
​"Still, congratulations are in order. Not everyone gets an invite to go to the headquarters of Hiro Corporation." Said Jun making me feel my cheeks turn red as the bell chime signaling the end of lunch.
​​"Amiya." Said a voice as I was making my way towards my house after school from the park. I turn around to face Shin and his two groupies.
​​"What you did yesterday was uncalled for." Said Shin angrily as thunder was heard.
​​"I only finish what you guys started." I said making Shin narrows his eyes at me before he said, "You abused your power."
​​"And what about you? You abused me everyday." I said making Shin took a step back
​​"You're going to pay us back." Said Shin changing the subject so I said, "Can't gave all the money and items I receive to someone."
​"You gave our money and item to some player?" Said the black hair boy on Shin's left and I said, "Yes, do you got a problem with that Murasaki?" Murasaki Takeshi narrows his eyes at me.
​"Yes we do." Said the red hair boy named Fuji Shuusuke and I stared at him.
​​"Well can't do anything about it now." I said shrugging as another thunder was heard.
​​"I'm getting tired of tired of this." Said Shin now cracking his knuckles making Takeshi and Shuusuke smiles.
​"This is the real world; you won't be able to do anything." Said Shin taking a step forward as I narrow my eyes.
​​"Let's get him." Said Shin making Takeshi and Shuusuke began running towards me. I kick up dirt to make Takeshi and Shuusuke raises their hands up to shield their eyes. I took this chance to turn to start running.
​​"Come on, after him." I heard Shin yelling orders as I jump over the entrance bars and rain started falling.
​​"Hurry up." Said Shin as I turn a corner into an ally only to trip on an empty can and I fell face first into a puddle.
​​"He's here." Said Takeshi as I tried to get up only to feel the tip of a shoe hitting my gut making me cough
​​"Not so tough eh Kira." Said Shin grabbing my hair before pushing my face into the puddle making me gasp.
​​"What should we do now?" said Shin in a playfully voice as I tried to get up only to feel the heel of someone's shoes on the back of my head pushing my face into the water.
​​"Get him up." Said Shin and I felt two hands on my shoulders pulling me up to stand. The rain was coming down heavily that as I open my eyes slowly, I could barely see anything.
​"This is for taking our gold." Said Shin as I felt a fist colliding with my gut making me cough once more
​​"This is for taking our items." Said Shin before I felt his fist colliding with my chin making me bite my lip.
​​"This is for killing us." Said Shin and as he hit my left cheek, Takeshi and Shuusuke let go of my arms and I fell onto the ground as the rain fell on me. I could hear Takeshi and Shuusuke's laughter, as I felt something wooden touching my right hand. I open my eyes and in front of me was a pool stick broken in two. I grab the stick before I slowly stood up making my three attackers look at me in surprise.
​​"What do you think you are doing?" said Takeshi before he raise a feet to try to kick me but I raise the pool stick to hit his leg making him groan in pain. I mutter, "Twins Dragons roar." Before using the pool sticks as swords to hit Takeshi with a ten hit combo from the game
​"What just happen?" Said Shuusuke surprise as Takeshi fell onto the ground coughing and I turn to face him.
​"Twin Dragon's Revenge." I mutter before making a run towards Shuusuke hitting him with a fifteen hit combo.
​​"Twin Dragon's roar and twin dragon's revenge." Said Shin his surprise as Shuusuke also fell onto the ground groaning in pain. I turn to face Shin holding the two poles in my hands making Shin's eyes open wide in fear.
​"You freak." Said Shin his voice full of panic and I said, "No, I'm Amiya Zeke, the boy who you always bully." I twist my wrist making the poles swing in a circular motion.
​​"Twilight Slash." I said loudly so that Shin can hear before I ran towards him with my left hand raised. He closes his eyes as I reach him but I stop my attack an inch away from his face. I lightly tap his head with the pole making Shin fell onto his butt in a puddle.
​​"Don't mess with me anymore." I said throwing the poles onto the ground making a splash before I grab my bag from the ground and begin making my way towards my house.
​​"There you are." Said Jun in a worried voice the moment I reach my house making me look up at her.
​​"What happen...no that's not important, Zeke it's your mom." Said Jun and my eyes open wide in shock before I drop my bag. I ran pass Jun to enter my house only to see no one there so I open the kitchen door to find it empty. I immediately ran up the stairs into my parent's room to find it empty also before I ran to the bathroom to see blood stains on the floor. I fell onto my knees as Jun came up the stairs.
​"My parents ask me to drop off something and when I knock on the door it opened by itself and there was water everywhere. I followed the sound of running water and...oh I'm so sorry Zeke." Said Jun as she came sat down next to me. In my mind's eyes, I could see my mother coming down the stairs as I closed the front doors before I made my way to my school. I could see my mother looking through the window waiting until I was gone before she unlocks the front door and made her way into the kitchen to grab a knife.
​​I could see my mother making her way up the stairs before turning on the water and went to sit in the tub. As the water began to rise, I see her using the knife to slit her wrist before dropping the knife and hand into the tub of water. I didn't know how long I was on my knees with Jun crying into my shoulders until I heard a car from outside the house. The sound of an engine dying snaps me to reality before I stood up to walk down the stairs to see my father stepping inside the house.
​"Zeke, there you are. Your mother..." said my father but I made a fist to hit him in the jaw surprising Jun.
​​"How dare you?" I said my voice shaking in anger as my father wipes his chin.
​​"Zeke stop that's....." said Jun but I interrupted saying, "It's all your fault. If you....if you..."
​"So what is it's my fault, that woman couldn't do anything right." Said my father before he made a fist to punch my already sore cheek. I stagger before I yelled in anger, "Don't you dare talk about my mother like that." I made another punch at my father but this time he was able to grab my fist before he land another punch at my face. He continues to punch my face as he said, "Who do you think you are? If it weren't for me, you wouldn't even here. You ungrateful son."
​​"Stop it uncle! Stop it, you're killing him." I heard Jun's voice saying as if she was a mile away, my body had went numb ten seconds ago and my vision was being blurred before I blacked out.
​​I open my eyes to find myself staring up into an unfamiliar ceiling and there was a small beeping sound next to me but the sound was dull. My hand felt heavy as I try to raise it only to have someone touch it saying in a far away voice, "You shouldn't move yet." I couldn't find the strength to resist so I close my eyes once more to fall into sleep once more.
​I open my eyes to find myself standing outside of my house before I blink and made my way towards the door. As I raise a hand to open the door, it creeks open and I heard the sound of running water. I step onto the carpet where it made a squeaky sound before I slowly made my way up the stairs as if something was pulling me towards it. I made my way up the stairs only to stop at the bathroom door. I raise a hand only to stop it inches from the doorknob. I felt my heart pounding loudly as I stood in front of the door and as if someone had open the door, the bathroom door slowly swung opens. The sight inside the bathroom made my eyes opens wide in shock. I saw blood mixed water flowing out of the tub and my mother not moving.
​I open my mouth to let out a scream before I found myself sitting up in a bed with sweat pouring over me. I turn my head around to see where I was until I notice the beeping sound next to me. I turn my head towards the sound to see a heart monitor. I then lie down on the bed as the door opens and a woman wearing a nurse's outfit came inside.
​​"Oh, I must be in the hospital." I thought as the nurse came to check my vitals and I silently obeyed. Once the nurse left, I pulled the sheets over me and closes my eyes trying to go back to sleep. I woke up the next day to the sounds of angry whispers and as I open my eyes, I saw my father and an attorney talking to Jun's parents.
​"What's going on?" I said hoarsely making the adults look at me.
​​"Ah Zeke, dear how are you feeling?" Ask Jun's mother, Yumi as my father narrows his eyes at me.
​​"We're talking about who you are going to live with." Said my father bluntly making me narrow my eyes.
​​"I'm not going to live with him anymore." I said bluntly also, making my father said, "I don't want you back anyways you ungrateful boy. I'm leaving. I have work." Before he left making the attorney follows him yelling, "Amiya-san wait up. We still have to go over the papers."
​​"Zeke, are you sure you don't want to live with your father anymore?" ask Yumi and I shift my gaze to my blanket while saying; "He's not my father." This made Jun's parents look at each other before they left the room.
​​"He didn't stop hitting you until my parents came in." said Jun when she had came to visit me later on that day.
​​"Can we not talk about him?" I ask Jun making Jun look at me before she nods her head.
​​"Well you have been sleeping for a week now. Summer vacation starts tomorrow." Said Jun and I nodded my head.
​​"Oh, by the way, you'll be living with us now. My parents just went to collect your things." Said Jun making my eyes open wide in shock.
​​"What do you mean?" I ask her making Jun said, "Your father sign over the adoption letters over to my parents as of today."
​​"Adoption?" I said making Jun nods her head, "Apparently after this morning, he had forced his attorney to give him an adoption letter and my parents sign it of course, so now we're family." I could hear the excitement in her voice.
​​"You seem happy?" I said making Jun smile as she said, "Well I always wanted a brother."
​​"More like you just want a sparing partner." I said and Jun said, "Well that too of course." Three days later, I was released from the hospital and Jun's parents were coming to pick me up.
​"Jun's at school right now for club practice but she'll come home in a few hours." Said Yumi making me said, "Thank you, uhh..." I stop talking noticing that I didn't know what to call her anymore.
​​"Just call me whatever it is you're comfortable with same goes with him." Said Yumi pointing to Jun's father, Senjuro making me smile gratefully. Once we reach the Yashida's dojo, I stared in the direction of my old house before following Jun's parents inside the house.
​"This will be your house for now on so don't be shy about anything." Said Yumi making me nod my head as she led me to the room that I used to sleep in when I little.
​"This will be your room, I'm sure you remember." Said Yumi and I nodded my head before she left me alone saying, "Lunch will be ready by noon."
​"Ok, thank you." I said as I open the door before stepping inside the room to find my desk, computer and bed had been brought over. I open the dresser to find all my clothes neatly folded before I made my way to my desk where the Neuro was sitting atop of it. I ran a hand over the smooth surface of the Neuro while saying, "It's been ten days since I dived. Maybe I'll play for a bit."
​As I took the Neuro, I saw my computer blinking so I set the Neuro down before clicking my mouse to bring up my computer screen.
​"A new mail. From Hiromichi-San." I said before opening the mail.
​"Dear Kira, It is with my deepest condolences to hear about what happen to your mother. If you wish the reschedule our meeting then I would fully understand. In addition, if you kindly include the date of your mother's burial, I would like to come in person to pay my respect. Yours Truly, Hiromichi Tanaka, CEO of Hiro Corporation." I read the letter aloud before I check the calendar. There was a circle mark on the 3rd of August with the words funeral written besides it.
​"Dear Hiromichi-San, Thank you for your support, my mother's funeral is on the 3rd of August. If its ok with you, we can just keep the usual meeting date. Yours Truly, Kira." I reread what I type before clicking the send button and I grab the Neuro.
​"I have two hours before lunch." I said as I place the Neuro onto my head before laying down atop of my bed.
