Secondly, I will try my upmost to keep this story updated. Thirdly, I don't remember if I named Akira's parents, if any of you remembered if I did or not please let me know and I'll fix it. And finally here's the long awaited chapter of GSA. Enjoy and please review.
As true to my prediction, my summer days became quite busy. Going back and forth from Hiro Corp and picking up Jun from school.
"Are you sure you're not overdoing it?" she asks me one afternoon while we were walking home. I held a tired expression and I guess I didn't hide it well enough.
"I'm fine." I answer with a smile and even though she didn't comment, she still held a skeptical look.
"We're home." Jun calls out
"Welcome home. Oh, Kira you got a letter." Yumi's voice is heard from the kitchen and I raised my eyebrows.
"A letter?" I asked when I enter the kitchen while Jun head upstairs to change. Inside I saw Yumi sitting on a chair drinking tea and in front of her is an unopened letter.
"Yes, here you go."
I took the letter and flipping it over I saw a name I didn't like with an even more detestable hand writing. I slightly narrowed my eyes before opening it. Four pieces of paper fell out. The first is a square picture of my mom but I barely recognized her. In my mind, I always see a tired and expressionless face and unkept hair. This picture showed mom with a genuine smile on her face. She is also holding a small baby in her hands which I knew was me. I couldn't hold the emotions in so I let my tears fall freely.
"Kira, dear are you ok?" Yumi ask in a worried voice when she saw that I started crying.
"Huh? Oh yes. I just didn't expect to see this." I then held up the picture and Yumi's eyes glistened.
"I'll give you some privacy." She managed to say before leaving the room. I took her empty seat before steeling myself to read the letter.
"Dear Zeke,
I'm sure you don't want to see or hear from me but I felt like I should write to you just this once. I know it's already to late to apologize for everything. I have done you and your mother wrong. I honestly don't know myself how it had gotten that bad. Still I won't be asking for your forgiveness and I won't expect any. After we lost your mother, I realized I lost everything. I am going to go on a journey and left you with everything, after all that was the main reason why I started working in the first place. I went a bit off topic there but I wanted you to know the reason why. If you however find it in your heart to see your old man once more, I'll be waiting for you there until 7 tonight.
Yours Truly,
Amiya Kenji
P.S. I heard that you changed your name to Akira. Reina loved that name."
I placed the letter aside after reading it before looking at the last two papers. The third paper is the deed for the house signed by my father and the fourth is a check. As soon as I saw the check, I stood up in shock.
"Kira, what's wrong?" Jun asked as she rushed into the kitchen and I turn to look at her.
"How did you.....never mind that, my dad he...." I trailed off, I couldn't tell her that my dad just left me a big sum of money.
"What time is it?" I asked after a moment of silence.
"Quarter past 6." Jun answer and my eyes open wide in shock.
"I'll be back." I yell as I stuff the check into my pocket and left the house via the back door. From there I grab Jun's old bicycle before leaving.
I arrived at the cemetery a quarter after seven even after sprinting on the bike nonstop. I realized that it's passed the agreed time but I wanted to let him know, I needed him to know. Since I wasn't allowed to have the bike inside, I left it at the entrance and begins to sprint towards the tombstone. Once I reach the correct tomb, I didn't see him so I just fell to my knees."Z..." I heard a voice so I lift my head towards it and there I saw him, my father, holding a bucket filled with water and a dry towel. He's now shaven clean and looks a bit better than the last time I saw him but his eyes still look bloodshot. I slowly stood up, while he didn't say anything else. We remained silent for a while.
"Want to....want to help me?" He suggested holding the bucket and towel up.
"Ok." I subconsciously answer and I saw a slight smile on his face before he closes the distance between me and the tomb. I took a handkerchief from my pocket before joining him with the cleaning. While cleaning, I noticed how clean the tomb is and there were multiple offerings.
"I'm really glad you came." My father is now beginning to speak as he clean.
"I'm leaving the country you see. Well you already knew that right?"
I can tell that he doesn't know what to talk about and is instead just trying to make conversation.
"I don't know how long I'll be gone but I wanted to see you both before I leave." I stopped cleaning since I notice that he did too and when I turned to look at him, he held a sad smile.
"I'm sorry." He suddenly broke down and started crying.
"I know what I did wasn't right. I'm not fit to be a father or husband. I lost my way and couldn't find the right trail anymore. I'm sorry, Zeke, Reina." My father is know groveling as tears fall freely and I narrowed my eyes and lower my head trying to contain my own tears and emotions. I never seen my father like this before. He was always so proud and full of confident but seeing him like this, I realized he was just another human being like me.
"Zeke, no, Akira now right? I know I said I won't ask for forgiveness but I still want to apologize. I'm sorry for everything I've done to your and your mother. Also one last thing, don't become like me ever. You still have a bright future ahead of yourself. Treat Jun like the diamond she is."
I didn't question how he knew about my relationship with Jun and instead just remained silent.
"Reina, I'm leaving now, I won't ask for your forgiveness too. I love you dear."
When I heard this, I lift my head up to see that he is cradling the tombstone softly with his right hand as if he's cradling my mother's cheek.
"It was nice seeing you again, Akira. I hope I'll see you again." He said bitterly before turning towards the entrance while holding the wet towel and bucket.
"I'm..." I started saying causing him to stop walking but didn't turn back.
"I'm not saying I fully forgiven you but maybe....maybe we can still work this out." I finally finish and this made my father turn around.
"I would like that." My father said with a genuine smile before walking away and I stood there crying until he was out of sight.
